If there was a small group of customers (families and prospective families), would that shorten the time for the ICO? Looking for creative fundraising ideas for a small private school that lost its building. Thanks!
I think any kind of people can do ICO as long they can create tokens. Believe me, i see some project that created just like that. But maybe for something like school that need funds, maybe social fundraising will be good choice because if do ICO, investor will look profit too. There are a lot of legal fundraising site that you can try and people in here already mention some of them.

Everyone can do ICO but what will be usage of tokens other than appreciation for donation? Go straight forward with donations for lost building, no ICO is needed for that.

You don't have to do that there are sites like GOFUNDME me for donations, once you set up an ICO the investors expect a return of their investment, ICO should never be used for fundraising without a platform or project that will generate profits for investors, you can ask for donations and just ask stable coins like Bitcoin or Eth.

GoFundMe I think is right solution for @OP to build a school building. Because so far I haven't found a nonprofit ICO, most of them run on a business basis for profit. If there really is, I don't think anyone will donate funds because nonprofit ICOs are more suspected of being a scam if there are no real facts.

So for @OP it's better to register on GoFundMe site and make a fundraiser to build a school building and then please promote it in several forums, maybe there are generous people who want to help.

For the first time I skimmed your topic, I was interested directly because how would you directly connect a school to something cryptocurrency related. Imagine the possibilities it could open different possibilities that could soon help your school to earn for the right reasons. By conducting a fundraising with the right reasons, there could be people investing in it. Possibilities that I could think of are:

  • Conducting different seminars relating to cryptocurrencies and using the donation as the ticket
  • Promoting the use and advantages what cryptocurrencies could do for our world
  • Explain why you are creating a new coin for the school (hence the ICO you are suggesting)
  • Accept donations in cryptocurrencies or any service that transacts money. (Use of crypto)

The important thing is that it shouldn’t be ICO but just fundraising. Instead of conducting an ICO, why not promote the use of cryptocurrencies? Just like one of the opportunities I mentioned.

There is a misconception here in general when it comes to ICO, people were misusing it and that is another topic for discussion altogether and here you think it as a way to make money, the fact is you are giving a token for the investors and you are bound to fulfill a project that could profit the investor at a later time, you might not see such projects but the concept is helping a start up with initial capital and then sharing the profit.

There are many crowdfunding platforms, listing a few below
  • GoFundMe
  • Fundly
  • OneCause

You should not do an ico for that thing dude, what you must be doing to report that to your local authority and your local authority has an obligation for that dude. It's too risky to use ico as a way to raise the funds for your non profit school and it can be shut down anytime.
It's much better if you can try to use charity platform like go fund me rather than use ico to raise the money for your non profit school. Charity platform is more acceptable and makes sense to be used by a non-profit entity

This is really helpful- thank you! What crowdsourcing platform would be best for this purpose? Some of us parents are involved in crypto and would love to find a way to raise crypto funds for the school.

Are you planning on creating value for this ICO after raising funds to build the school? If no, then what you need is a donation from NGOs and not an ICO from cryptocurrency. You won't even see a dime from investors if its just to raise funds for a school and all the project ends there

If someone would try to invest in their efforts why not and if that school does have suitable and brilliant programmers why not If that sponsor can have all the credits in giving the funds,

But I guess ICO right now is not highly recommended and popular anymore not like in the old times when Airdrop is really active and certain tokens have value back then I guess the stuff from the past can never be the same, unlike today, the only thing that may have a slight hope to struggling is IEO, Maybe if that certain school can create Exchange site that can typically have different option and feature that other exchange doesn't have.

I do not think that the market will grow. Rather, altcoins. Of course, no doubt last winter it was much worse. Weak bitcoin and ETH drop to $ 80. But judging not the stability of Bitcoin, the viola season has not yet come this year.

There's no reason you should be running an ICO or should solicit anything crypto, look for public crowdfunding sites to help rebuild your building.
Yeah, no need to make an ICO for that. What you need is solicitation and donation for funding that building for that private schools. What is this school? there are too many funding site that you can use like this.

There's no reason you should be running an ICO or should solicit anything crypto, look for public crowdfunding sites to help rebuild your building. If you want cryptocurrencies to fund you, then many sites are already exist that will payout in Bitcoin or whatever crypto.

If you do choose to run an ICO, then you're going to be held by investors and people who are going to want a ROI on their investments. If you want to issue some crypto just for the hell of it as a gratitude token, then do it through a public crowdfunding or angel investor website.
