Although feathercoin is a copy of LTC, somehow it is more secure and better then LTC...

Well apparently it also now has centralised control node or something? Reminiscent of solidcoin in a way?

FTC is quite secure now with ACP enabled.

Its the acceptance which will determine how good a future it has. Currently there are several projects in the works. You can drop by at forum.feathercoin.com to assist.

Maybe if litecoin and feathercoin got together to use merged mining they could between them muster enough of the scrypt hashing power that is out there to be able to make themselves reasonably secure?

Nope.

If you want real alternatives look towards Litecoin and Peercoin.

Ftc has been sitting at ~9-12 US cents for some time now. Will it only stay here or get worse?

Is there any possibility in the near or distant future for a comeback?
