I just joined the course and watched the first two lectures, I think I may need to watch them a couple more times to let it all sink in.

This looks to be an interesting course and I hope to come out of it with a lot better understanding of Bitcoin.

Also the University of Nicosia http://digitalcurrency.unic.ac.cy offers a MSc in Digital Currency and a free introductory MOOC.
For the MSc degree you can pay with Bitcoin. I think it must be the first university in the world that you can pay for a degree course with Bitcoin.

It's always great news to see universities paying cryptocurrencies (specially bitcoin) the attention it deserves. As a teacher you would be mentally insane to not tell your students about Bitcoin. Anyone involved in technology should be holding some Bitcoins by now an studying the protocol on a daily basis if you want a job in the industry, in the next 10 years it will be everywhere.

... I don't know how I have missed this thread and an announcement, but this move by these schools just shows how legit we are and what are true possibilities of the Bitcoin and crypto in general.

Man, I wish they were teaching these courses when I was in the school in states. This would be the most interesting class by far and I would have a straight A without even doing any work! Smiley

Move On !!!!!!
Princeton, MIT, Stanford...when the best schools in the US are teaching Bitcoin and cryptocurrency it doesn't matter what the Government has to say about it. The Project is legit, the ecosystem is built, the benefits to society are clear, and the need for education is here and being met.

This is really, really fantastic news.

Here's a thread on the announcement from Stanford: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/stanford-opens-online-course-on-cryptocurrency-and-cyber-security-1160671

Exactly this! Sooner than later, everybody will start paying attention. This is really an awesome news. I don't know how I have missed this thread and an announcement, but this move by these schools just shows how legit we are and what are true possibilities of the Bitcoin and crypto in general.

Quote from their welcome email:

"To really understand what is special about Bitcoin, we need to understand how it works at a technical level. Bitcoin truly is a new technology and we can only get so far by explaining it through simple analogies to past technologies. This course is for computer science students, developers, entrepreneurs, hobbyists, power users, and anyone interested in cryptocurrency technology."
