I got laid off as well from my volunteer position in the hospital on Friday.   Things have calmed down here in Alberta.  Smiley

Why would they lay off a volunteer position?

https://bit.ly/387FXHi lightning theory

We sent inquiries.  We received emails thanking us but not hiring at the moment.

I think your government lies my friend. I saw Boris Johnson was in the ICU... that was the most laughable propaganda I've seen out of all this shit!

More hospital layoffs are ramping up across our country.  The hospitals are still ghost towns.  It seems management is starting to make the doctors work again... the doctors are all cheering for the government to "subsidize this war"... it's almost laughable at this point.  S-c-a-m-m-e-r-s.

Yeah I think management in every country is bad at the moment... Not sure why they're still putting out adverts if jobs have already been filled (probably making those at the front in icus feel better)... I know a lot of staff are off though so all this is very concerning (it'll be at least an eighth to a quarter)....

And yeah Boris going into intensive care was rediculous too... Propaganda still remains one of the governments main strategies, nothings changed in the 110 years since the start of propaganda campaigns...

Did you get anywhere with this? There are still lots of ads from the government trying to aggressively hire as many nurses as possible...

I think they're after enlisting at least ~16000 from what I can tell

Thank you very much.  I will pass this along to the people laid off! <3

I kinda imagine your Hospitals are in the same shape as ours are, but we shall see.

Have you personally seen how full the hospital is?  Like with your own eyes.  Not your prime minister in ICU.

I don't think I'd be able to get that information. Hospitals are normally 90% full at this time of year normally but apparently non major surgeries have reduced that to 50% so far... And our health services are cautious with admitting people when there's nothing major.

They've built 3 new hospitals of 4000+ capacity each and we'll have to see what happens as I think most of Europe is extensively hiring in the event it breaks out somewhere and they can quickly lend services to another country (but that's just my theory at the moment)....

Thank you kindly for your reply. <3

They chopped ICU nurses down to $15 per hour here.

If any hospitals need experienced ICU nurse staff, please contact me and I can send a few your way!

If you're seriously looking for something, there'll be something here or in a few other countries (france and germany are probably hoping to hire still).

I'm not sure if this is relevant to your point but there were also a lot of articles suggesting a lot of nursive staff were getting work visas in europe from the US in order to work in our hospitals...

It seems some may also have been suggested to go volunteer here (potentially so they can get transferred and don't need to be paid anything in redundancy if the us have that)? Seems interesting times anyway and certainly not the best approach, but mixing profit with healthcare never was...

I've seen SO many news articles attempt to claim how the southern United States was being pwned by COVID19.

Here is the reality from my local hospital:

Facebook post:  White River Health System (WRHS) employees are making personal sacrifices to temporarily reduce payroll expenses. White River Health System, like many hospitals across the United States and in Arkansas, is experiencing the economic hardships associated with Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the sudden drastic reduction in typical patient care services caused by the pandemic.
Friday, WRHS leaders met with employees about revenue shortfalls caused by postponing non-emergency surgeries, imaging studies, and laboratory tests, a reduction in emergency room visits, and the increase in expenses associated with preparing for COVID-19. In addition to staff who have had hours reduced, many WRHS employees stepped forward to accept a 30-day unpaid furlough. Impacted employees will retain existing benefits, and those furloughed have been advised of their eligibility for unemployment benefits.
“I am humbled by the response of our leaders and employees,” said WRHS President and CEO Gary Paxson. “It is an honor to work with people who demonstrate a genuine concern for each other and our patients. It is our intention to return to full employment as quickly as possible”

Our hospital is LAYING PEOPLE OFF!!!!!!!! During a medical "epidemic"!

These Quacks cried wolf in a huge way and their lack of business skills have pretty much fucked our whole hospital.  COVID19 is about to be the least of our worries if people don't snap out of this psychosis!
