Use this link to the USBXpress for Windows 8. I had to use this about a year ago now but its what worked, the standard driver package was never updated correctly for Win 8.

What kind of miner?
You can also try cgminer & use zadig to install the driver.

Try to run bfgminer from command line, then you will be able to see the fail message.

I've tried running as admin, I've turning off all antivirus and firewall possibilities, I've tried unzipping through multiple programs, and I've tried getting the drivers through different sources. Still no luck. Do I even need it? I open bfgminer and put in all my pool info and try to launch it just crashes. A message pops up but disappears to quickly for me to read it.
