Thanks for all the input.  I checked through all of them but since the recent spike in interest crypto, everything is out of whack right now.  I have decided short term to focus on running ethereum nodes to get gain experience in anticipation of POS. Also, in the future, maybe SOMN (seems to be having issues) or something like SOMN.  I will also try to set up some file sharing services to squeeze out every last bit from my rigs.  Thanks again everyone.

how can get 830 on rx 470?Huh
Elpida or Samsung memory and performance timings.
I put my hashes of 2x RX 470 Strix here: http://monerobechmarks.byethost5.com/
They are little bit old, I tweak it more.
If you want timings or bios, PM me.

I believe the best option for XMR on a hash/watt basis is still the NVidia GTX 750 ti - for some reason they hit a real sweet spot.

There are some CPUs that can argue the point, though, but for some reason I don't think they've been beat (though they HAVE been challenged) on a hash/watt basis by newer GPUs.

250 hash (common with a very mild overclock) on something like 45-50 watts actual usage (don't go by TDP, go by at-the-wall measurements)....

I have 830H/s with RX 470 with 150W at wall for whole rig.

the only best two that coem to my mind are verium and zoin, there is also monero magi and hodl, but they are not that profitable, because they are plagued by botnet, cpu coin are always bad for me not much profit to get from them unless you use amazon aws

Benchmarks: http://monerobechmarks.byethost5.com/
For CPU is best XMR STAK, with good config you can mine very good. Need AES support and lot of L3 cache.

With stock Ryzen 1600 (2400mhz ddr4) I get about 340h/s. On DwarfPool minimal payout is 0.1XMR which is kinda high IHMO, so Monero is not so profitable at this very moment

XMR can be only mined via CPU.
I used to mine it but i dont think there is much profit in Mining via CPU.
You will need a good configured CPU to mine such coins n also you have to maintain the electricity cost.
Other Coins can also be mined on CPU by used CPU miners like nicehash, cryptopia, etc but they wont give you much but will increase your electricity cost.
You can try mining them and continue doing so if you think it is profitable.
Feel free to inbox if any help needed.

XMR can be mined using GPU also, though the difference between the CPU and GPU hashrate is not vast, that is why its still profitable to mine using CPU.

Don't attempt to mine unless you have a recent, mid-range/high-end/enthusiast CPU. Either a Ryzen CPU or a Haswell Core i5 and up.
Otherwise just don't bother, it will be a waste of time. If you plan to do it on a laptop you shouldn't either, you will run into overheating issues among other things.

XMR has been able to be mined with a GPU for quite a while now.

is it still worth to mine monero?
Yes, CPU has good hashes. It depends on CPU, you need at least AES support.

XMR/Monero is probably the best known coin that is still practical to mine on a RECENT MODEL cpu.

There are allot of coins that are designed to be CPU dominant, although not all are strictly CPU only. Right off the top of Google here is a list that will get you started. There are plenty more CPU minable coins out there as well.

http://cpucoinlist.com/

Personally I like AEON, Monero, and BitSend for CPU mining.

I've heard of cryptonote and xmr which I think is monero. Embarrassed
Those are the only ones that I know of.
But alot of people are saying they are not to be trusted as they have turned scam.

Are there any coins around that are CPU mining only?
