Laptop or Desktop PC would be the best choice... I would think that Tablets and Smartphones are too easy to accidentally go online with... and are far more difficult to ensure are actually "air gapped" than a standard Laptop or Desktop.

And yes, it really is as easy as making sure it isn't connected... to ANYTHING... no BlueTooth, no WiFi, no LAN connection. There are even dedicated Linux distro's like "TailsOS" (https://tails.boum.org/) and "BitKey" (https://bitkey.io/) that a designed to be run on AirGapped PCs.

The bit you missed in the AGC setup, is that you install a "watching only" version of your wallet on your internet connected device... this makes it easy to generate receive addresses etc... and you also create your "send" transactions on the online computer... copy the "unsigned" transaction to the AGC... sign it using the private keys on AGC... then copy the "signed" transaction back to online computer to broadcast.

Or... you buy a hardware wallet which basically achieves the same thing Wink

My interest has been piqued about creating an AIR GAPPED computer after reading the [Warning] About Coinomi https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/warning-about-coinomi-2215088
And given that there have been vunerabilities shown in a lot of wallets this should be a seriously considered alternative.

Is creating an AGC really as simple as having a computer which does not access the internet?

My understanding would be that:

I make sure the computer is "clean" of malware

I download whatever wallet I like to a memory stick on a different computer

load and install from a memory stick the wallet files to the AGC

Generate a wallet address and use that for receiving funds.

An AGC can be an old laptop, PC, tablet or smartphone i assume.

Is there anything else which needs to be considered?
