AMA? not sure if anyone will be willing to do it for you unless with a price and they may not be able to show their website  Grin

its going to be easy for you to do it though but it costs from vPs to marketing, scripts can be edited. Hire me to market your website and you would be delighted with what you see. you will net be spending another thousands for the marketing. wanna check my marketing plan for gambling sites?

So I see scripts of Dice sites available for cheap and some dice sites seem to sell for cheap and given the volume some sites get you can't help but think they are making some serious BTCBTCBTC.

not all of them. but it is a profitable business to run in the long term because of the house edge. but you need players to make money and not all casinos have any players.

Anyone here who has created and run a casino that can shed light on how much time, effort and pain it is to do?

i have searched for some answers as you are doing. it is a tough business because you need lots of money in the bankroll, and a very high security because people will surely try to exploit it.

Quote
If you had to create a new primedice today from scratch what would your estimate of the cost be (excluding bankroll)?

i would never do that.
because there are so many dice sites, and as you can see primedice is no longer number one. others have taken its place.
and if a new one comes along it will have a very hard time staying alive.

instead you may want to think about another game.

Quote
How big a team would you need?

i say mostly security, the design is not that hard to do. and then the bankroll which you may end up needing partners.

Quote
How long would it take to do?

it depends on the team and how much experienced they are. it can be done in less than a month.

Quote
Is it even legal?

depends on where you live.

Quote
Could you project manage it yourself?

absolutely not.
it needs constant monitoring and a strong support team.

Would love to see someone do an AMA on Reddit on that so we actually knew the details.

me too Smiley

We are definitely on the same wave length red apple!

even if you know all the answers to all your questions here, in the end you can not create a successful dice gambling site because you lack the most important factor: experience.

that is why i always advise others to start small when they want to star a business of their own. you can start a small one, with limited resources and see where you can go from there. jumping in and wanting to make a site like the best ones out there is a bad idea.

Solid advice

if you low budget you can use moneypost service, script is ready only setup and upload you your server hosting
about staff and more, the first if low budget self work,
and then you can find volunter to moderator chat, and reward free bet
if client incraese you can pay moderator and staff

the first budget only domain and server hosting,

For a good secure design, smooth user interface, staff, developers should cost you around 15-25BTC. However if you don't have the bankroll (which I assume you don't), you can check out Untitled MoneyPot Dice source code https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/free-script-untitled-dice-run-your-own-bitcoin-dice-site-no-server-needed-1062680.
Even though it is a bit outdated, since MoneyPot has rolled out it's new API, making that work is much cheaper than developing a new site. Though given that the script is free, and not that special, you would need to stand out from other untitled dice in MoneyPot sites with some kind of specials or events, such as wagering contests or giveaways.

Although it might seem appealing to make yet another dice site, since the big sites are making so much money, just don't. I have been planning a site of my own for a while now, and the bitcoin dice market is way too saturated for an Untitled Dice to succeed. I recommend only using the untitled dice code for training purposes, such as learning how dice, chat etc work.

All that being said, if you are still interested in making a gambling site, plan a new game, hire a team of developers and staff, and go for it!  Tongue
