I found airtight capsules exactly right for the Criptoe Guldencoin. You need to make the hole in the rubber a little bit bigger, but than you'll have an pretty show and protective case.

I want to order them, but maybe there are more peeps in the NLG community who want one.

It's €2,50 per capsule, I wish to ship them all to my address and from there distibute them further. In order to keep the price as low as possible, the more the marrier Smiley

Please PM me with quantity if interested!

Nice video, Meije + Fuse. Thanks.

I just made my first coin ready with private key. Smiley

@Furio: The wallet generator can be downloaded and then with offline computer you can safely generate the public and private key.

Nice video, Meije + Fuse. Thanks.

It was all Meije.  I can't claim any credit for that one.  He did a great job!

I would have sneezed and coughed the whole time through with this cold that I can't get over, so I am really thankful he was able to help me with this one. lol

I found the problem! I don't wanna use an online wallet generator, it's even safer to generate a new .dat file on a clean computer offline by starting the client and then exporting private keys and such.

Sadly the quality of the qrcode generated by the client is too low to resize it. When I resize the qrcode from the online wallet generator, it works. But I don't feel comfortable to generate an private address online, that means it's not COLD storage.

Still struggling Smiley
Have you tried to generate a new QR code online or with QR-code generating software with the exported wallet keys?

No not online, because I don't think that's fullproof. But I guess quality is to low then, you see the blurring wehen resizing.

Did you try the QRcodify website I posted earlier?  They let you create a 0.5" QR code.  Also, what program are you using to create the document when you're printing, and what kind of printer are you using?  You shouldn't really need to resize that far, so the quality shouldn't get too distorted.

Also, you could print the QR code for the wallet address, but not the private key.  That you could keep as the letters and numbers and just print it out and store it somewhere safe.

If the QR code method is the way to go, there are some tutorials here that I've seen at one point where people created paper wallets offline using the source code for the wallet generators.  I think they may even provide the QR code in the process.  Might be worth a search if that's what you really want to shoot for.

Where can I find the video guys?

Video can be found here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRfMifiyukw

I don't know Dutch, so I can't comment on what is said in the video, but the video goes through the whole process of creating the wallet, attaching it with the hologram, and checking the balance.  All in all it's exactly what I needed, so I've confirmed with Meije that the bounty is his.  Like a true gentleman, he has declined the bounty.  I told him I would put the 100k NLG towards the dev fund donation I was going to make, in his name.  I will be contacting the devs to let them know.

Last shipment update:

The coins that are still in transit, including the dev coins, that everyone has been waiting for cleared customs yesterday at 5:30pm, I believe local NL time.  They should be getting to LTEX in the next couple days.

Additionally, I will be shipping the remaining coins out sometime this week, en masse.  I have discussed it with LTEX, and we both agree it will be easier to distribute coins in a faster manner if we cut out the travel time from the US to NL.

I'll make a post when the package is shipped.

-Fuse

Thanks a lot, a bit long, because he explains also the basics on crypto and addresses and such, but a nice video, thx!!

Hi fuse,
I just made a video, a friend of mine is now editing it for me. In the video i have printed the QR code and placed it under the hologram sticker, afterwards i showed people how to access the address... when the video is finished, i will send it to you so that you can judge if it is good enough!.

Meije

My man!

If everything looks good, it's your choice on reward.  Funds can be sent tonight when I get home, or I can put coins in the mail with the next shipment, which will most likely the one big shipment to LTEX with the rest of the coins.  Just shoot me a PM with the video link when you're done, and let me know what you want as the bounty.

Have no video skills, but a good Dutch voice Wink, was wondering where Coin #85 is at. Should be arriving soon Smiley. I just can't seem to get the QR-code small enough to fit in the coin. Also the folding of the private key is a bit difficult, it gets thicker then the ingraving, so I have a little bump on my coin, so still strugling Smiley

The last shipment, including coin 085, should be making it to LTEX soon.  I have spoken with him, and I will be sending the remaining coins to him in one bulk package to save on the shipping time.  I originally didn't want to do this, but I'm thinking it's foolish not to now.  People want their coins!

As far as the paper wallet goes, I found a 12.7mm x 38.1mm piece of standard printer paper works perfectly for the indent when folded in thirds.  If you use a fingernail or similar to press the folds down to make them "sharper" it helps keep the thickness of the paper at a minimum.

With regards to the QR code, I used the web service http://www.qrcodify.com/ to generate the QR code.  They will let you select a 0.5" QR code size, and then download the file.  I  opened that file in Illustrator and added it to the paper wallet layout that I made.  Small scaling was required to get it to fit, but it worked fine when I scanned it with my phone.

As seen in Illustrator:

So I really want to apologize for my extreme procrastination on the hologram video.  I know I said I would get it done, but I've been swamped with life right now.  Between the baby, the whole family being sick now, the crypto project I'm currently running behind on, and numerous projects at work... I have just not been able to get to it.  I just can't find the time in the day.  In fact, I'm writing this as I'm in the middle of cooking dinner right now.

That being said, the one thing I have more than time right now is NLG.  So...

I am offering your choice of either 100,000NLG or 3 physical Criptoe Series 1 coins(consecutive numbers of my chosing) as a bounty for anyone that can make a short, decent looking DIY video for the whole coin loading process.

The video must contain the following 3 crucial pieces of information:

  • Creating the wallet key pair using either an online paper wallet creation program, or the a coin wallet, and printing the paper wallet.
  • Attaching the paper wallet to the physical coin using the hologram sticker.
  • Loading the wallet and checking it's balance.
  • Bonus: If you can do the video voice-over in Dutch and subtitle it in English, I'll include an added bounty.

If you're interested in doing this video, PM me and let me know how long it will take.  Obviously, the sooner the better.  It doesn't need to be an IMAX cinema experience, but please no shaky cell phone videos either.

Cheers,

Fuse

Would be nice to see a how-to video as Fuse suggested a few days ago. Also good for later buyers of the coin and info in the shop.

I know, mate... I've been slacking on this.  I'm sorry.  The whole family has been sick for the last few days, so I haven't had a chance to put aside some time to do it.  I'll try today, though.

Take your time, family first. No hurry for this. Great if you want to do this next couple of days or so.

A few questions about private key's. I generated a public walletaddress and a private key on guldencoinpage of https://walletgenerator.net/ as a test.

When I want to use the private key is that acting like a normal walletaddress and acting for sending coins from the public address? It has way more numbers than the normal addresses. And how to import it in the windows client. Maybe silly questions, never worked with private keys  Grin

Each address you generate has a public address and a private key.  The private key is what is used to import the public address into the wallet program.

I would recommend doing this on another computer or using a live linux CD.  You don't want to muck up your main wallet with additional addresses.  Additionally, in terms of security, it's better to do this on a system that can't be comprised.  When you open the wallet, you click on help->console.  In the console you type the following:

importprivkey [the private key] [wallet label]

For instance, this would be an example:

importprivkey 6a7pr11YST2obTrYe7kY2TTURuaQUKBFXwoCbWECBmfmejVDbZT MyCoinWallet

That will add that wallet and allow you to check the funds or spend them.  However, you don't need to load the key into the wallet program to add funds to the wallet.  You can generate an key pair, then send the coins to the public key.  However, I would recommend practicing with generating and adding keys to a wallet first.  One day you'll probably want to be able to pull the coins out or sell them, so you'll want to be able to get to them in the wallet program.  If you ever lose the private key, you can't access the wallet, and those coins will be lost on the chain.

Would be nice  Smiley Also the two-factor key, how that can be done.

Thanks for the great coins! They look fantastic.

I'll work on the video as soon as I get home.

As far as the two-factor key goes, I just mean using any security measure that allows you to not have to store the private key with the wallet address.  That could be a brain wallet mnemonic, or an encrypted key, or even a split key pair(half the key with the coin, and the other half in a secure location).  It's an added level of security to the cold storage options.

Additionally, it looks like cryptolife has changed recently.  You can create a keypair at https://walletgenerator.net/ as well.  You can also do it via the wallet console.

Use of the hologram stickers:

I have included 2 stickers in with each coin.  This is in case you totally mess up putting it on or the first sticker gets tweaked somehow.  Either way, it's pretty straightforward.  There is a clear square in the middle of the hologram that will line up with the indent on the back of the coin.  You need to create a paper wallet key pair, and print it out on a paper no wider than 0.5" in one dimension.  It can be longer in the other dimension because it can be folded over.  See this post for more info on the wallet:

If anyone is wondering about loading these, I would like to note that I will not personally load them.  I want the end user to load it themselves.  This is more secure, and it takes a key issue out of the equation - losing digital coins if the physical coin gets lost/stolen in shipping.  Additionally, I don't want to be responsible for making 250 wallet/pairs that could be claimed I still have access to.  More secure IMO.

For those of you that want to know how the key pair could possibly look, I made one in Illustrator with a wallet generated from Cryptolife.net.  It's 0.5" x 1.5", and would be folded accordion style into thirds.  The space on the coin for the pair info is 0.5" x 0.5".  The font used for this pair was 7pt, and it is perfectly legible when printed on a laserjet printer.  I don't have an inkjet to test with, but I'm sure you could get similar results.  Here it is:

FYI... thats a throw-away address, and no one should use it as it's now public.

-Fuse

Additionally, you could use a qrcode, as long as you have a printer capable of high resolution at smaller sizes.  I was able to scan a wallet address as a QR code at a 0.5" x 0.5" size.  I haven't tested Bram's QR code generator with the added NLG image, but I think that would be even cooler.  You can find it here: http://guldencoinqrcode.nl/.

You could also just print the wallet address, and then keep the private key separate.  That way if you lose the coin, you never lose the digital coins loaded on it.  You could also do a two-factor key pair... it's really all up to you how you want to "load" the coin.

Once you have the paper wallet, I found it was easier to attach the paper to the hologram first and then attach the hologram to the coin.  I placed the hologram sticky side up on a flat surface and then carefully placed the paper on the sticker, aligning the sticker with the clear square in the middle.  Once the paper was attached, I used a paperclip as an applicator of sorts to put the sticker on the coin.  I didn't want my fingerprints to transfer to the sticker, or the oils on my hands to get on the coin.  So I pressed the paperclip against the sticker while it was on the table, and then I was able to pick up the sticker without handling it directly.  It also made it easier to place the sticker on the coin because my big fat fingers weren't in the way.

For reference, this is what it would end up like:

It's hard to write a good description of how I did all this, but I hope that helps.  If needed, I can post a video of how I do it when I get home tonight.

Sorry for the delay in that post... got wrapped up with my buddy digithusiast in the main thread.  Oh, the joys of being hated for no legitimate reason lol.

I'm glad to see they made it in a timely manner.  With the exception of no tracking, the fact that they made it to two separate countries very far apart at the same time is pretty awesome.

I'll be sending the shipping invoices within the hour.

Once I've received my coins I'll try to take some pictures with my SLR camera, maybe there're good enough to use in your shop. And a translation:

(I ignored "Shipping packaging will vary depending on country.", since this text is only for the Dutch)

Original text:
The Criptoe Team is proud to present the first physical Guldencoin collectible coin. Only 250 were made, and they are now available for you to purchase. Get your piece of Guldencoin history.  These are also the first physical coin that the Criptoe team has ever released.
The 44.45mm round & 3mm thick coin takes it’s design from the Guldencoin logo. The front face of the coin features and individual engraved number, the coin value and the birthday of the genesis block. The back face of the coin features a recessed groove for wallet info, and the Criptoe name and series number. This is a first for the Criptoe team, so this is Criptoe Series 1. Recessed features of the coin are done in Guldencoin blue colorfill, and it adds a special look to the coin not found in other collectible coins. The edge face of the coin is stamped with the phrase “BETALEN MET GULDENCOIN”, which translates to “pay with Guldencoin”.
Each coin ships with 2 hologram stickers and a paper coin envelope. Shipping packaging will vary depending on country.
*European orders will be shipped to Guldencoin community member LTEX, who will handle European distribution.  Orders will be bundled together and shipped to LTEX first, saving buyers in additional shipping costs and customs fees.

**Because the manufacturing process includes a lot of work done by hand, some coins might contain extremely small blemishes, although it is extremely rare.  If you are not 100% satisfied with your coin, please contact ny2cafuse in the bitcointalk forums. No refunds or exchanges.

I am looking in to a referral program as well.  I will release additional info when I get it all sorted out.

I know this is a common way to attract more buyers.. if you sell diet ebooks or some other commercial product. This is a collectors item, I don't think you'll get way more promotion than you have now. Besides, you take the risk that your shop url will appear on obscure spam sites. All for the clicks and sales.

Maybe instead of a referral system you can create a discount for your existing customers. For example a discount on their second order/coin, and a bigger discount on their third order/coin. A lifetime discount. In this way you can activate the real Guldencoin fans to buy more coins at once or placing a second or third order in the near future.

Let the word of mouth do its job..

Word of mouth was my original intention with the referral program.  I was just thinking it might help spread the word if I offered a discount/free coin to people who helped get the word out.  It's not a necessity at this point though.

I don't mind the pace of the sales, but I want to make sure I reach a wider audience so the coins aren't all held by a handful of people.  I was thinking that I need to get the site translated to Dutch as well.  The store system has an easy translation, but I need to get the product description translated as well.  And better pictures lol.

I agree though that this is a collectors item.  It's not like the original casacious coins that were traded.  I see these as being something you stick on your desk in a display stand, and in 3-4 years they're worth a considerable amount of money, in both NLG and in terms of collectibility.  I just hope the community sees them the same way.

Any news about the shipping?

Sorry, Frais, I should have updated the thread.  I shipped two packages via USPS.  One to a user outside of Europe and the US, and one to LTEX.  However, USPS would not provide tracking numbers for the international packages.  I have notified both LTEX and the other receiver, and they have both responded.  I offered to provide confirmation of shipment to them to confirm the package left my local post office.

Had I known that they would not provide tracking info, I would have used a different shipping service.  I will be using Fedex or similar for future shipments.  I will ask LTEX and the other user to confirm they have gotten this info as well.

I'm sorry for the confusion and delay in notification.

Hope all goes well, no tracing is allways a bad thing Smiley, let's hope the packages get to their destination Grin

Fuse and I have been in constant contact about this and other things. I have no worries about the shipment as I receive USPS parcels regularly. I have tried to contact them, but they, logically, could not provide me with any information based upon receiving address alone.

All problems with LitePaid that you might have had are also things I have had with my WooCommerce shop. It took Kenny personally to alter the code of my shop to resolve, so there also lies no blame on Fuse for that matter.

I will distribute all sendings the minute I receive Fuses package, lets hope we make it before Christmas.

I guess that one user outside US and EU would be me here in sunny nZED.  All I can say is BIG UPS to fuse, when I had a problem with my wallet while trying to make my purchase, he helped me sort it out and even instant refund which was caused by my wallet problem.  and he has kept me  up to date and even notified me when he shipped ( which was earlier then expected) and did let me know about it having no tracking info, which is non issue to me, so all in all a great experience

@Fuse have a look a DHL, I get packages from them all the time and always supply tracking info, but not sure how their prices compare

Thanks for following up, mate.  And thanks for the kind words about your experience.

I'll look at DHL as well.  Part of my research for the weekend  Wink

Orders up until this time (22:36 PST) have been boxed up and will ship tomorrow morning.  I will provide LTEX with the tracking number and I will have him confirm he has received the info.

I will be shipping a separate order to Oceania, and I will provide that specific user with their own tracking number.  I will have them confirm here that they have received their info as well.

Store status update:

I have ditched the WooCommerce site, and completely rebuilt the site using Prestashop.  It is much more powerful, and adds a lot of nice features out of the box, like downloadable invoices for customers, instant order notification emails, and a more robust inventory management system.

The key benefit to moving to Prestashop is that the LitePaid plugin for Prestashop instantly updates orders and quantities without the issues I was experiencing in woocommerce.  I have tested a few transactions, and they work great.  While I really wanted to stick to the woocommerce site for ease of management, I just couldn't wait for LitePaid to update their webhook calls.  Do not take this as a knock against LitePaid, or the plugin dev, Patrick, who has helped me tremendously over the last couple days.

DNS records are updating right now, and I should be able to have the shop up and running in the next 20 minutes or so.

Any idea when the first batch of ordered coins will be dispatched to the Netherlands? Is it before christmas? Two of my ordered coins are presents for two other Guldencoin fanatics who aren't active on the Guldencoin related sites, would be a great christmas present.

I will most likely put the first set of orders in the mail on Monday.  I will post here when I do so everyone knows they have been sent.  I will ask LTEX to confirm info here when I send him the tracking.

I am disabling BTC payments for now.  What is happening is the customer pays with BTC, they send the transaction but don't add the TXfee, and the transaction hits litepaid a few bitcents short.  So litepaid sees the transaction as not being paid although the user paid 99.9% of it.  It appears that all the BTC transactions so far, with the exception of 1, have failed like this and caused inventory issues.

For the time being payments need to be made in NLG only.

Hm.. my third order didn't process correctly. Same problems as before..

Litepaid was delayed in the payment recognition for some reason, so it cancelled your order on the site.  I've manually confirmed it.  It also showed 2 orders by on the site for the same coin, so I'm wondering if that had something to do with it as well.

Either way, it should be ok now.  Did you get an email?

-Fuse

On my first attempt I cancelled the payment, nevertheless the site showed the message that the order was completed. A known litepaid bug which I thought was resolved weeks ago.

I was wondering what was going on.  Litepaid support said they were looking into some issues I reported on their end as well.  I'm guessing we should start rallying for another payment processing agent as a backup to LitePaid.
