Yeah. Isn't that how Welsh got a moderator role?

Pretty much, and I've been reporting for years. However,  I really ramped up my daily reports in the last 12 months or so before getting asked if I'd like to be a moderator. I was probably hitting a 1000 on a good day (or bad depending how you see it). At one point I was literally waking up, and putting in a hour before work, and then a few hours before bed. I pretty much made it my unofficial job to clear up all the shit that was getting posted. This was during a time where spam was everywhere you looked because of the popularity of Bitcoin back then. Handling reports takes a lot more time than making reports though, because I didn't really care for accuracy back then, and now I've got to do proper research before handling a report to avoid as many issues as possible, and of course we still make mistakes.

I guess it was also the fact that I was reporting a lot of reports within a timezone needed, and a section that needed extra moderating. I still think there's a few sections which require a bit more moderation (Bitcoin Discussion etc). However, with the recent bumping changes, and a few things my end which have kept me busy the last few months I'm hoping that the Altcoin section will see a great improvement. The rest of the staff have been carrying that section recently Wink

suchmoon quoted the main criterion. Community feedback can also be taken into consideration, especially on Local boards.

Other than that don't exhibit any red flags and hope that the stars align in your favour.

Yeah, same as Flying Hellfish in the Politics & Society but there was an election between the top reporters there (also theymos asked who want to be mod there) .
Anyone can apply I guess, but theymos has the final word no matter the rank and the nationality

I find your lack of faith in Bitcoin disturbing.

Is there any rank range?
Is it by lenght of participation period?
Is there any qualification?
I'll answer you with my example.
Registered in July 2017.
Appointed mod of the french section in July 2018 with the rank of member and 13 or 14 merits.
I wasn't the most active. I am far from having all the knowledge about Bitcoin. I'm not the most fluent in english, I hope I'm just understandable.
So you see the criteria for a local mod are not high. It must be higher for a mod in US section or a Global Mod.

What are the criteria for being a BitcoinTalk forum, admin or moderator?
As quoted above, the number of reports is the most important criteria. It's a secret for nobody. But maybe Theymos has some secret criteria (number of deleted messages, your "Total time logged in" to see if you are enough present, no red trust, etc...) ?
And I would add that you don't have to be a member too controversial. Imagine that [well... I will not give a name, but you all have at least one in mind] is appointed moderator of a section, and it will be chaos and desolation on Bitcointalk Smiley

Is it anybody from any country?

What are the criteria for being a BitcoinTalk forum, admin or moderator?

theymos only choose who will be Moderator or an Global Moderator !
As i know there was no Admin named the last years as the only Admins are theymos and Cyrus.
For sure the criterias are that you helpful to all Users , helping the forum to be better and i guess that you are neutral and hold on the forum rules.
But as i said only theymos decides who get the Role of an Local Moderator or an Global Modeerator .

Well, went i have free time, I read & find how my local mod can be a moderator.

Is it anybody from any country?
A specific country its for a local board mod, you must a native speaker from that country for being a local mod. For the global board, i think all countries would be accepted cause communication using English.

Is there any rank range?
At those time, went my local country got a local board. All moderators started from Jr/Member rank so rank doesn't matter at that time, right now idk.

Is it anybody from any country?
I think the global board mod.

Is there any qualification?
Yes.

Indonesia Board has a few candidates, they are doing an election for the mod, the election using a "POOL System" around 4-5 days.

What are the criteria for being a BitcoinTalk forum, admin or moderator?
It's just speculation by reading a thread election mod from my local board, it could be :
  • Good English Grammar
  • Knowledge
  • Reputation
  • Activity
  • etc.
Based on the statement from my local mod, after he being selected. He needs to read 6 threads from theymos, for the content I don't really know xD.

For local boards, obviously you have to be able to understand the language and for english board same criteria apply. So yes anybody from any country.

Report a lot of posts and be a very active member of the community and theymos may ask you eventually.
but the requirements now might be a little bit high since we have members that meet those criteria above in their numbers.
