I have been doing some casual research on a bunch of forums & sites (HYIP) which deal with LR.  It seems the consensus (simplified by me) is that "Bitcoin is hard, volatile, and too risky".  The vast majority seem to be going from one failed centralized virtual currency to another one (i.e. Perfect Money, HD Money, etc).

Yeah true, HYIP guys don't want to use bitcoin because price is not stable and it's doesn't fits into HYIP structure.

That and Bitcoin HYIPs are so 2012

US gov is powerfull enough to make btc useless

Nonsense.  They may be able to lower its price ( temporarily ) by making it inconvenient to exchange to fiat but they can't do much else to it.
Look at how well they do with getting rid of the drug trade or file sharing...

if they all run to bitcoins it spells trouble for coin. do you think? US gov is powerfull enough to make btc useless

They are coming, check different forums. BTC is their 1st choice after LR and do you think bitcoin is "white label currency"  ?

Check silkroad and other sites they are using it from a long time for illegal purpose.

I've read that they've confirmed they don't "mind" bitcoin, as long as people pay taxes and don't facilitate illegal activity.
