Lol, Crossfire and dummy plugs don't matter in Linux. This would be on Windows XP though. From the replies I'm just going to turn CF off and use dummy plugs.

I run 4x5830 Sapphires with no dummy load on the video connectors and it works fine..... Ubuntu 11.04....

The dummy plug is only needed on Windows, not Linux.

Crossfire decreases performance.

Not by a whole lot though, for me, The decrease was about 1%

i have massive losses when using crossfire and mining with 6950's. Mining speed keeps varying between 200-430 on my cards instead of beeing stable at 430 with crossfire off.

You would still need to use separate PCI-e slots on the motherboard and separate PCI-e power connectors. Crossfire does decrease performance, but it works without Dummy plugs. Take your pick Grin

I am new to mining and am building my first rig. I have chosen the Radeon 5830 card for its low price and high hashrate, and was wondering if I could effectively double the hashrate by connecting two cards using crossfire connectors. Would this lower the performance compared to using to separate PCI slots on the motherboard? Thanks!
