The main reason for me would be because I'm a newb and have 0 BTC at this moment
I'm also only interested in BTC IF I can make some money with mining, which all depends on time.
when the whole ASIC development takes to much time, say another 12 weeks I think we will all be to late because of the fast rising difficulty
I do not want to buy the chips with BTC, I'd rather spend USD for the chips, I don't want my money to be stuck in BTC.

You can not buy a loaf of bred with BTC yet Smiley

The Concierge of Crypto
Why not join one of the existing Group Buys? There are in Europe, United States and Asia. You can order as few as you need, like 10 or 20.

Here's one which I am organizing:

It seems like a solid idea, but you'll have to put a lot of effort into making it work before the community gets too interested. I'll be following, though. Good luck.

If you're interested I could organize the liaison between forum and OP. Had a hand in the recent Pebble watch handling in a few forums, and I just so happen to have some free time for a great cause.  Roll Eyes

Buying 10.000 chips would cost about 150.000 USD

Woah... Thats going to take a lot of organisation for such a big group purchase.. Why do they make it so hard for us.

Personally I cannot wait until I can get the old soldering iron out and start putting together some miners!!

The problem is Avalon only takes BTC for the chips, We can't crowdfund with BTC.
I also think it is best to wait until there is a solid design available.
Buying 10.000 chips would cost about 150.000 USD

I might be interested. Is there a datasheet available for the Avalon chips? I've got years of experience with electronics as a hobbyist but I'm not an engineer, so I have limits as to what I'm capable of designing/building.

Who would you have do the board design and manufacturing?  Gotta be able to actually interface with the ASICs.

Hi all,

I was wondering if anybody would be interested in a crowdfunding on Kickstarter or Indiegogo for 10000 Avalon Asic chips.
The chip information was posted today on GIT so we could see some boards coming for these chips really soon.

Hope to hear from you.

Greetz,
