Equity is mostly used as a means of buying shares in a company. In general term most company that share equity are regulated by the government and they sell equity using fiat and not cryptocurrencies. However, ICOs are not regulated by government. You as a person that have idea about an initiative can run an ICO based Crowdfunding to support your project. Most of this ICO and IEO majorly accept contribution in Bitcoin and Ethereum. This is because they are most viable and highly recognized crypto today. However, due to volatility issue, it is better to collect part of the contribution by accepting stablecoin such as USDT or Fiat.

Crowdfunding with crypto-currency was most popular in back 2017 (If I am not wrong). But currently I can't see any successful platform with crypto-currency crowdfunding platform from where investors getting benefits.  To be honest crowdfunding become quick scam method lately for scammers. They have no real products, no real concept even no real team behind of current crowdfunding. The most scam happen into crypto-currency crowdfunding platforms. You can't expect good return even can't expect get back your invested capital if you wondering to invest currently launched crowdfunding platform. It doesn't make any difference either they use Bitcoin, Ethereum or some other crypto-currency. The fact is still same.
I think this is what the scammers made as the gateway for the cryptourrency community since they were seeing the community growing in 2017, they must have took the opportunity to widen their scam scheme coverage. If you saw what happened in 2017 then you'll know why crowdfunding is not a thing now, crowdfunding projects are prone to scam and proven that there is just a small chance of the investor to benefit. In short, low chance of getting a good ROI.
well indeed from the many fundraising events that ended up scam also made the name cryptocurrency worse because it has made many investors and people who are very important to be disappointed so that the impact on current prices whose prices can not increase anymore because there is no one who supports cryptocurrency anymore.

What you'd want from a crowdfunding platforms is having tons of users to increase your chances of getting funded. Things like Kickstarter or Patreon have millions of users, while Bitcoin platforms barely have thousands users. Add the fact that Bitcoin owners are generally more suspicious, because they see scams on a daily basis, and it's easy to see how it's impossible to get any significant crowdfunding with crypto.

There is trouble abrewing
Crowdfunding with crypto-currency was most popular in back 2017 (If I am not wrong).

i disagree. it was never "crowdfunding" that was popular any time in the past. instead it was the "gambling" on new shittokens that were being created that became popular only because some of these tokens showed some decent returns in a short time due to them being new and getting big pumps.

otherwise "crowdfunding" to this day remains something that people look at with a lot of suspicion. specially since there hasn't really been any legitimate ones in public.

I am not familiar with fiat crowdfunding as you mentioned on the OP nor I am interested there. To be honest crowdfunding become quick scam method lately for scammers. If you ask me,cryptocurrency crowdfunding is kinda pointless. If you need funding, just ask for donations and give your BTC or ethereum address.I don't consider crowdfunding projects as a real trusted business,so I don't expect any return of investment.Sending money/coins to such project is just donating(even if you buy ICO tokens, there's no ROI or profit).
Crypto crowdfunding platforms that aren't truly decentralized are possible exit scams.I can't recommend such platforms.

I don't think there are a giants in this niche of business but there are several website that seems to do this kind of thing:

You can also make your own crowdfunding app with BTCPayserver according to this guide[1].

I guess most of crowdfunding website (not ICO/IEO one) still use fiat as their main currency, and doesn't look at crypto that much as of now.

With the prevalence of scams involving cryptocurrency, I do not think that crowdfunding is a good way to do your thing. You mentioned some crowdfunding sites which works well, though they are fiat-based, I think it is worth it. If you think about it, the reward base that you are saying are like IOU and for me that is pretty risky, because they can simply ditch their promises about giving back what they owe. I personally hate crowdfunding so I only knew a few of it, maybe you can create your own platform that will spearhead a change in crowdfunding industry.

Startengine accepts BTC, though I'm not sure if they have campaigns that are rewards-based, probably there is and you just have to dig deeper.

There also some new offerings that are very interesting, there's a Dynamic Coin offering which lets its projects selling tokens under their framework guarantee to return 80% of the raised money back to DYCO participants through buybacks. Are you no longer interested in token offerings such as IEO's?

So anyway, I applied as a merit source :)
Recently, I have been looking for a crowdfunding platform that allows backers to pay in Bitcoin, Ethereum or any other cryptocurrency. To be more specific, reward-based crowdfunding platforms are what I am interested in (i.e. Kickstarter, Indiegogo alike).
They are mostly fiat based. I havent heard of any bitcoin based crowdfunding yet other than ICO/IEO and so on.

There are many sites and options how to offer equity or run an ICO, but basic Google search returns unsatisfying results.
Buying tokens from an ICO is not the same as buying equity shares from a company off the stock market. Please be careful of what you are trying to invest in. ICOs are not legalized securities and you will be losing money in case the project owners decide to abandon the coin. Many ICOs have failed to deliver because of going bankrupt in the bear market.

What are, in your opinion, titans and leaders in this industry with crypto payments?
You mean service providers who allow payments for merchants to accept them from bitcoin users? Bitpay is one of them and a popular one.
