i think they will work only for litecoin right?

so we can mine other many altcoins.

or if they will mine every altcoins, so its the end of gpu age...

asic producers will handle the coin world, and our gpus will damn dead.

Primecoin

CPU coins suffer the problem of botnets and VPN networks though right? So not really a solution.

The OP is referring to GPU-based coins.

at the rate that new coins come out, and the fact that there are already miners in the 100k, 200k, even 300k+ range....i'd say it will make an impact, but only a slight one. can't really talk smack as I have an account on there waiting for a pre-order. however, you still have plenty of time as the first shipment isn't suppose to go out until the 2nd quarter of the fiscal year. and depending on the supply at which they can be manufactured from this company, there will probably be a long waitlist and shortage of hardware like there was when everyone saw the litecoin press and caused AMD GPU shortages. just my two cents. :}

I believe there are already some variations of Scrypt, aren't there? I'm sure I heard of one mentioned today. I think it has a woman's name in it, but I can't for the life of me remember the name of it.

scrypt-jane

Argh, it came to me just as I re-opened the thread. That's the one yes. Would that be resistant to the so-called "Scrypt Asics"?

I think we need another currency to be created (based on a different algorithm) so that us GPU miners can still profit from our endeavors once Scrypt ASIC's come out. Alpha Technologies is (maybe?) releasing their Scrypt ASIC's. Are there any currencies (that exist) that can be mined by GPU's but still are not Scrypt?
