There is always the potential out there for them to make them...but in the end, there will be very few if any.  It would be too confusing for customers to have to have a specific amount of currency available for a specific store.  I know Gift Cards are huge, but there has been a huge push away from Gift Cards to prepaid debit/credit cards that have mass acceptance, instead of a specific store.

What will possibly happen is that some companies will try to take advantage of the crypto currency hype and turn the intermediate currency already used in their loyalty schemes into a fake crypto currency which will basically be "Walmart dollars" based on something that looks smart + you can mine them as an element of gamification. They'll take just enough from "what the mainstream thinks what crypto currencies are" to get some press releases "Walmart introduces Bitcoin 2.0" and give a new twist to their loyalty program.

Do you think stores will make their own currency like Walmart making a walmartcoin?
