Dear Fellow Crypto Aficionados,

The crypto space has been filled with great enthusiasm about augmented privacy, decentralization, transparency and individual autonomy. Many of us have advocated these values and technologies, some of us in a near-religious way (guilty as charged!). However, many crypto outlets lack credibility, because they’re perceived more as propaganda, than as serious journalism. That’s what we intend to change. Crypto Insider wants to give the Crypto World the serious, thoughtful and fact driven outlet the technology and community deserve.

We’re excited about attention economy platforms, where people have the possibility to get paid to create and share content peer-to-peer, but we also believe there’s a demand for carefully selected and curated articles written by professionals adhering to traditional journalism ethics. We will differ from other Crypto news sources by focusing on high-quality long-form analytical pieces, investigative journalism, op-eds and pen portraits, with less emphasis on breaking news.

We aim to maintain higher journalistic standards by:

Promotion of Quality Stories: We aim to promote popular stories not solely based on the number of clicks they get, but also based on the time people spend reading them, the rating they get, and the number of comments and debate they spark.
Personal, Corporate and Editorial Biases and Ethics: We all have biases, of course, that’s inevitable. Just think of the bias of being a crypto and tech optimist, which everyone at Crypto Insider is. However, we pledge to try to be neutral as much as possible, and when there are biases we will declare them, both in the articles themselves, in the author’s bio, and in the corporate information. Further on, we will place a high priority on considering many different sides and opinions of each story, as well as fact checking.
Incentive Model: Paying our writers and video contributors more competitively than the average crypto outlet through not being solely dependent on traffic driven advertisement.
As we gather momentum, we’ll focus more on emerging and frontier markets in the Middle East, Asia, Latin America and Africa, as we believe these are crucial areas for crypto adoption in the future, currently not sufficiently covered by media. However, we believe borders are but arbitrary lines drawn in the sand, the world is our playground indeed – hence we will cover developments in North America and Europe as well. The style and tone we’re aspiring to achieve are that of traditional outlets with high editorial standards, such as Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, The Economist and WIRED.

Like any venture, we’ll make mistakes and we’ll have setbacks. We’ll have to learn and adapt and incorporate best practices. To create a high-quality outlet in the age of clickbait is not without challenges. But we’re convinced we have a strong and informed crypto-community who can pull it off – if we work together, have fun, and help each other.

Reach out to us with ideas, opinions or questions. Participate and contribute, help us innovate and evolve.

Together We Can Make Crypto Journalism Great Again!

Yours,
The Editorial Team
