Some coins were called 'The next bitcoin' in the past, but there are no coin can replace bitcoin.
It is not about the coin features only, bitcoin value is very high because peoples already trust it.
Need a long time to gaining trust and value of coin in this cryptocurrency world, not easy.

From the looks of it there seems to be two big things that this project offers. One is decentralized messaging which we clearly need in this day and age of data protection and privacy. The second part to Elixxir looks to be their payments system which I think would work well with a messaging app. We definitely need something that is mobile forward for mass adoption. Right now there's too much of a learning curve for Bitcoin users- waiting for somethign to get more people on board quicker

I don't know about the coin You're talking about,but I'm still inclined to assume that in theory there might be a coin that can outperform bitcoin.At the moment, no altcoin can surpass bitcoin.And this is a well-known fact.Everything else is useless hype.

I believe that Bitcoin will always remain Bitcoin but I think with time there will be a coin that comes in and improves on the system. Exactly what Ethereum was trying to do but decided to take a different approach. Elixxir seems promising to me and will improve on systems that Bitcoin is lacking. Especially when it comes to fairness of consensus. Right now it's too hard for just anyone to mine Bitcoin anymore unless you have a ton of money or power

Well, I think that bitcoin domination will end sooner or later. Certainly not in the next 5 or 10 years, but in the long run this will happen. Lol , I actually loved the topic, crypto legends creates the next bitcoin but I think it looked familiar because when we began to see a rise in the price of ethereum, everyone began to say that ethereum is the king even more than bitcoin and it is going to be the next bitcoin in the market, but years have passed and ethereum is still yet to attain that position, I don't think any coin can claim the position of bitcoin for now because bitcoin still remains the king.

Yes they are saying exactly that but you shall not be scared because quantum computers are a bit different from what we are used to.
It is no like you can run any program on any given architecture right? The program needs to be pre-designed to utilize x84, 64bit, ARM etc. to be fully operational. In quantum computing it the computer that has to be designed with a specific task in mind. It can usually run only one type of equations, one set of programs or instructions.
In other words, IBM or D-wawe would have to build a computer specially designed to crack bitcoin, to crack it and "we" can always add "another zero" so in fact, it's all just a fear mongering. Blockchain is safe.

Maybe yes, maybe not. But, there are more potential hundreds of cryptos in the cryptomarket than Bitcoin, while the Bitcoin is in a much higher position. And I guess the new currency that could shake it will not be in the near future.

I really doubt the future of Ethereum. With the marketing power from EOS or TRX, or maybe even Binance Chain, they can lose easily if they don't do anything. I doubt decentralisation narrative is that much important for developers who only look for profits. Die hard decentralisation is probably a minority in dapps business.

I mean, this is so truth. All or almost all new coins say that and ends up being just a lie. It's a funny coincidence because i was with other people this morning and we got lied to a lot, pretty interesting coincidence.

Now failed or not we don't really know yet. It might take some place in the top 10 and maybe, just maybe it will stay there for a while, who knows?. The future will really tell, but i believe they do that only/mostly to profit, not really to do their part in changing the world.

Exactly, whenever I come across that phrase, I see it as the project looking to get more popularity by affiliating itself with bitcoin, and that attempt is enough to make me lose real interest. I agree that a centralized institutional cryptocurrency does not have many chances to become anything, even though there are anonymous transactions there, so perhaps we should not worry about the authorities accessing our personal data with this coin. This coin does not have many chances of competing with widely accepted by the banks Ripple, and I don't think Bitcoin users will be interested in it as well. Definitely Elixxir will not be the next bitcoin. They want a public that prefers anonymous currency something that all governments in the world will be fighting against in the next few years. bitcoin is good because it is pseudo-anonymous. It is not the first time I hear this words "the next bitcoin". I remember there were some coins claimed that they would be the next bitcoin but most of them were not even getting any success.
