It seems like crypto currency really is the future; we've overcome one of the largest currency services that is used INTERNATIONALLY. I think that's pretty amazing and is a hint of what we may see in 2018. What do you think?

Bitcoin and 2017 give  Crypto massive demand it will be normal news to see new service like Amazon .

And yet bitcoin still surpassed visa this tell to us that bitcoin is a lot more than visa, visa is just a way to send payments all over the world, bitcoin is not only that, bitcoin is an investment, bitcoin is a currency, bitcoin is going to change the world works visa just made payments easier, bitcoin is going to create a whole new industry this is why despite the fact bitcoin is not used as much it has surpassed visa.

I don't know why someone will want to compare the two because they are not even competing at all maybe from my own point of view though. If Visa is to be compared with anything, then it should be with either MasterCard or PayPal because its those two I see their objective being the same. All of these are companies with its own shareholders, employees across the world and offices but all this is not in any way related to bitcoin. Its should not be compared at all comparing would mean undervaluing the potentials of bitcoin.

It is really interesting that bitcoin has came closer to the international currency payment option visa. The huge growth of bitcoin may overcome all the other leading payment methods if governments agree but it is of less chance, with growing investors and huge adoption rate can make bitcoin strong to live long.
But in practical use, visa really used for payment method but bitcoin only for trading, it's the fact mainly because the fee which is required for bitcoin as a miner fee is just too high and making
people prefer to cash out their bitcoin first and then load it to their visa, even if we surpass the market cap of visa, just hoping that we'll eventually could use bitcoin as a payment method conveniently.

I think that all the classical financial instruments like VISA and Travel Cecs will have to change their strategy regarding the market because, flash news: Blockchain tech is coming! I'm glad that Crypto continues to evolve and gains more in popularity.

Really? I thought VISA would be a long, long ways ahead of crypto. After all, people are still barely using crypto to buy things whereas VISA is used thousands of times per second all around the globe. This is a really surprising fact to me, if it is true that is.

On another note, why on Earth does it even matter? We should not be celebrating overtaking VISA, but instead when we destroy VISA altogether, then it will be a celebration. Tongue
Every little victory counts even if it is small, many people are predicting bitcoin to be worth 100k, 200k or 500k in the future and yet we celebrated reaching 10k as if it was new years eve, why? Because it matters, every small step forward gets us closer to our goals, the fact that crypto reached visa in market cap is the first step to completely destroy visa in the future, the same way that many people are now using bitcoin instead of western union.

How is that good news for us, the crypto landers. I mean as long as we don’t find any good application or medium to use the crypto currency directly from the blockchain then how could they be best. It’s achieved through some projects that I know, but we all know at how much level they are operating and how many ordinary people even recognise about the such project. Anyway if you see through my eyes then crypto has achieved the market cap, population and wealth in pretty good ways. I think what is missing is there real time application which is the case with centralised company like visa. If we get that hit or lead then you can say that crypto achieve the best investment opportunity ever.

No I don’t think so, visa have its own importance in real life while without cryptos life can be easy , cryptos can be recover by investment but the fact of visa is change and will not recover once its rejected or destroyed that’s why I am not agree with that crypto become worth more than visa now a days.

But i think that bitcoin can also be sue for payment method. specially we can use it for online shopping and for so many other purposes. Even in some places we can also use it for shopping in local shops. for example in Brazil there are so many shops where we can use bitcoin for shopping in local shops, i am also sure that in Japan as they have turn bitcoin as legal currency therefore i am sure that there will  also be so many shops where people may be using bitcoin for shopping stuffs. i think that in near future will will also be able to use bitcoin everywhere for shopping not online online but in local shops also.

I think this is what we called modified modern future of technology in world. It is really interesting that bitcoin has came closer to the international currency payment option visa.  Cryptocurrencies in a very short period has crossed every milestone and continue to achieve more.  Whatever it be gold,  Dollar, everything is left behind by them. Bitcoin is continously growing and so as other crypto currencies hence there will be a time came when people will invest in bitcoin more and more. So we will need more and more cryptocurrencies. There are still so many issues to be solve about cryptocurrencies and it is still young but it is slowly going up and even surpassing those companies that are existing for a long time.

Good news definitely! There are still so many issues to be solve about cryptocurrencies and it is still young but it is slowly going up and even surpassing those companies that are existing for a long time. Cryptocurrencies has still a long way to go but it is slowly gaining the popularity that should make people getting familiar with it. Its market cap is huge now and it would continue to grow bigger because of the demand especially in bitcoin-the most popular and the father of cryptocurrencies.

Well there is just one thing that am scared about is .. cryptocurrencies getting banned !

I don't really know why but the governments of many countries aren't accepting their growth and instead of regulating it...they are banning them... Thus if this scenario doesn't happens ! Then for sure soon they will replace everything !

And people like us would be benifited a lot from it .. since its extremely easy ... For us to adapt to this change since we are already into it ..

Well thats a really great news that they are growing this nicely.

Looks very interesting, it really means something serious in future payments way and what makes me happy is that it's just a begining. But that worths more because of current price and that's not a big deal. However there is a chanse that economists will consider this fact as something that really worths to think to accept and integrate.

before comparing visa and crypto, I think you should know the type of both of those things. visa is not a currency, a visa is just a tool to save money and used for payment.

Exactly. Did you even read my original post? It states pretty clearly that I said "we've overcome one of the largest currency services." Note that I stated specifically that visa is a currency service. The sole purpose of this post was to notify people about how far bitcoin has come, not to compare VISA and Bitcoin. VISA's monetary presence is just a good comparison marker.

I don't know if they should be crypto directly but the future are online payment while it goes as the largest currency service used internationally it will keep increasing by the time.
Worth more than visa .. is like living the dream in real life ... I always thought Visa and Credit Card related business own the world for life ... big bag holders are on the way to the future!
Long live Cryptocurrencys! It's a great day to HODL!

HODL is a great motto, but for what? and yes, cards businesses own this world, no doubt. I can't buy milk in shop by using BTC, can you do it? No, so it isn't so optimistic picture for bitcoin as you have draw.

But Visa have more benefits that cryptocurrencies. At least, Visa can transfer more than thousands transactions per second. Company hasn't got too high transactions fees and allows to use its cards all around the world.
BTC and other digital currencies are great and will revolutionise this world, but... There are too many problems that must be solved.

I don't think it is best comparison at all. But cryptocurrency have big future as we can see right now. Big companies already interested, many governments too, there are enough hype in the mass media already. Ordinary people talk about bitcoin. There will be big price corrections as in the past but overall economics needs it.
Exactly, comparing cryptocurrency to Visa in this manner serves the sole purpose of fabricating hype. Sure we're growing at a rapid pace and by the time you are reading this we might have already hit/surpassed a marketcap of $300,000,000,00 but we still have a lot of internal issues that we have to fix before we should get extremely excited. But all in all I think this is yet another confirmation that bitcoin and cryptocurrecny is here to stay.

I think the fact that Bitcoin's value overcame PayPal recently is the most significant. PayPal is something almost everyone has used/uses to make payments online. The sheer fact that BTC alone is worth more now just goes to show that, as you say, cryptocurrency is here to stay.

Reading the article, I would say its more of comparing unrelated items and from that trying to make one looks good more than the other. Visa is a payment company just like MasterCard or PayPal that enables people to have access to their money for those who relies on the debit cards as against the credit cards which you are allowed to spend more than what you have.

Cryptocurrency on the other hand is not just one company but series of coins being valued. Now comparing a ton of coins with a company and saying one is better off, is just an uninformed conclusion if you ask me.

Your primary point is correct. Is BTC still at least 50% of "total coin caps"? If so, then the article is somewhat valid since the top coins are showing signs of becoming truly huge.

VISA isn't a currency, it's just a way for people to process transactions in their own currency, it's certainly a big step for crypto but there's still so far for it to go, cryptos will do so much more than just facilitate transactions, a 1 tn market cap will be the first milestone I'm looking toward!

It is an apples and oranges kind of comparison in that you are correct, but since bitcoin and altcoins are completely different than anything that came before that is the only kind of comparison we are going to get, however even with all the transactions being settled in all the cryptocurrencies we are still far away from visa, that tell to us there is still a lot of growth for bitcoin in that area and when we reach visa in that aspect as well the whole market of crypto will probably be worth trillions of dollars.

I agree with you in the sense that they are both very different types of payment options. I do believe that crypto is much more versatile than visa and that visa is better for the average joe. However, what makes this interesting to me is just the comparison. Visa is known by practically everyone, and crypto has just topped it in terms of the market cap. That alone says something about how crypto may be able to scale into the future.

That really isn't even where we expect cryptocurrency to be even though it is obviously a good sign. The coins are already enjoying the impact of good news lately. We are looking forward to 2018 and to a time where the total market cap for cryptos I'll be in trillions of dollars just like in forex trading. Cryptocurrency is the new money and has come to stay.

I agree with your opinion that the transaction volume of cryptocurrencies will be able to surpass that of Visa in near future for sure.
