As far as the benefits are considered it has a number of benefits that's why crypto has revolutionised the world with his power and use case attributes. The first and in my eyes the most important factor is the P2P transactions that are offered by the exchanges it opens another world where you have everything in your hands. From any part of the world you can just deliver your assets from cost or with minimal charges.

The improvement I'll like to suggest is that the exchanges should enhance their security networks and they should be advanced in it because still cases are heard of assets being stolen. Otherwise it's something that can't be criticized.

their login method of email+ password can be cheated easily by those with access to victims email via many methods of gaining email access
They allow users to log in with phone numbers too. It is another risk with Sim Swap attacks.

[BEWARE] Sim Port Attack.

Users can have many bad practices by using same passwords for emails, accounts and don't use 2FA for their emails. Or they can install 2FA on a mobile phone on which they log in their email and their exchange account. Exchanges can not protect users with bad practice like this.

Users must use strong passwords and don't use a same device for email, 2FA and exchange.

I see exchanges as the unavoidable middlemen, whether we like them or not, even when the centralized exchanges demand KYC from us, but because of the essential services that they offer in the crypto transactions, we can't help but accept their existence. I've started a topic before on the relevance and acceptance of crypto exchanges, https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.62661873.

Basically because of anonymity in the crypto space, fear of being scammed in Bitcoin p2p transactions with unknown persons and for crypto trading purposes, the services of exchanges will continue to be relevant and in constant demand to carry out crypto transactions conveniently and with lesser chances of being scammed.

We can not underestimate the role of the crypto exchange in the cryptocurrency ecosystem,  and how exchange will help the scalability and wider acceptance of cryptocurrency because with exchange,  access to various assets is made easy for investors, so one of the main advantages is as follows in my own opinion.

1 exchange grants newbies and old timers the ease to access various levels of coins and assets that are tradeable on the global exchange.

2 exchange serves as a mediator and an escrow for P2P transactions and deals.

What I don't like about exchange is that:

1, the demand for document verifications even when you have not used the exchange,  by just opening an account you are asked for KYC outrightly.

2) What do you dislike about cryptocurrency exchangers?

3) What features or services would you like to see in cryptocurrency exchangers?

their login method of email+ password can be cheated easily by those with access to victims email via many methods of gaining email access

however if people were to supply a clean public bitcoin address that is locked as their identity. and then account owner signing a random message using their keys, where the signature is the login proof. then proves the access is from intended user, better than some remote hacker gaining email access via many methods
Your idea is interesting and very good in terms of security, but it is more for crypto enthusiasts, because the mainstream audience does not know how to use cryptocurrency in such an advanced way.

1) What do you like about the work of cryptocurrency exchangers?
The major thing I like about exchanges is the fact that I can swap a cryptocurrency to my local fiat with less stress whether of the centralized exchanges or decentralized, the only offer me the services of trading Bitcoin and Altcoins with less stress.

2) What do you dislike about cryptocurrency exchangers?
For centralized exchanges I hate the fact that I have to provide my national identity, almost all my credentials to access one fucked up exchange that might likely trade my details in the dark web exposing people to risk.

For decentralized exchanges, I only do not like the fact that the exchange rates are very low compared to current exchange rates.

3) What features or services would you like to see in cryptocurrency exchangers?
I would love to create an account with an exchange ( I wouldn't call an exchange a wallet) without stress of identification, and I would love the accounts to be more safer to store at least the few coins I might be wanting to spend any time soon so that I can leave them there.

4) You have a choice of where to exchange currency and you can do it in different exchangers. What criteria for choosing an exchanger do you use?
An exchange with higher exchange rate to my local fiat, an exchange that wouldn't require any KYC to create any account, Low transaction fees etc

This survey will be used for analytical purposes only and no more.

1. They making it easy to buy and sell cryptocurrency. Literally anyone, can sign up on one and use it.

2. They can pack up at anytime and your funds no matter how small will be gone with them. They are easy targets to be bullied by a disgruntled government.

3. Great User friendly interface. I want to see more exchanges being audited with proof of their reserves(I know this is not the direct answer to your question, but I just wanted to squeeze it in here).

4. Acceptability in my country. Trading volume. Good liquidity, low fees.

1.  exchanges that are not asking KYC, that's what most would like i believe. i only see few of them and somehow only few people are also mentioning the exchange here.
2.  scam exchange and sending unnecessary emails.
3. i like the old version where there is no need to transfer from the spot wallet to the funding wallet and futures wallet.
4.  exchange that has credibility and is already reliable.

There are different types of exchanges, so it will help to specify which exchange type you are referring to. I'll assume you are referring to the most popular types; centralized exchanges.

3) What features or services would you like to see in cryptocurrency exchangers?

4) You have a choice of where to exchange currency and you can do it in different exchangers. What criteria for choosing an exchanger do you use?
• They make trading faster and offer more liquidity.

• They pose as wallets and try to convince users to store their funds there.

• No KYC.

• I'll preferably to for a decentralized, P2P exchange that doesn't store logs of user information.

1) What do you like about the work of cryptocurrency exchangers?
Without crypto exchanges there would be no buying and selling, there would absolutely be no usefulness of Crypto transactions. Theybarw platforms that enables the transacting of the digital coins.

2) What do you dislike about cryptocurrency exchangers?
Investors can't discriminate the crypto exchanges in as much they've their assets to be traded in the exchange platforms. We invests to make profits and we're in need of the incomes we make and so doing, we've to trade our Coins if not paying our bills through the crypto Such as bitcoin, we can decide to see the asset in exchange of fiats through the P2P which is done only in the crytop wallets exchanges so there's no point of Investors to dislike crypto exchanges.

3) What features or services would you like to see in cryptocurrency exchangers?
I'd love to see a feature where the exchange can determine the future of bitcoin. 😆

4) You have a choice of where to exchange currency and you can do it in different exchangers. What criteria for choosing an exchanger do you use?
I considers the exchange reputations and then I conducts thorough research for my assets security purpose.

I don't even know whether to advise on moving this topic to exchanges or altcoins discussion because am confidently assured that this does not belong here, why not try move your thread to either of this boards mentioned and members will engage on the discussion than when it's on the wrong board and may later ended at off topic post if it was moved to off topic board
