I expect there'd be so many inaccuracies in the movie compared to real life although that's what usually happen when a movie trying to potray literally anything the usually forget some small details but this will atleast spread the word regarding crypto for those who don't know even if it will give negative impression to the people.Well that's literally called piracy. but, who am i to judge.

In our country either, but I found a way to just download it online for free and I enjoyed the movie without paying anything.

Haven't seen this movie yet (this movie haven't been aired in cinemas yet in our country), but I've heard "Russian Mafia" in trailer.
Hope this movie's plot will be more about crypto, than about someone that is in debt to Russian mafia, they came to collect the debt and the shooting/chasing starts.

I already watch the movie, forget to update here as my previous post I was looking for ways to watch it.
Well, I can say it's a good movie, AMLC officer discovered a big money laundering activity within the bank he is working...


In the end,  he ended up mining coins here. 

ICO was pretty much mentioned in this movie, it's kinda old as the trend now is IEO. lol

ME and my husband watch this movie and we both like it.
Crypto movie is another way for Bitcoin to be known in different countries, for those people who still don't know about it.
For me in Crypto movie, you can see or you will learn the risk that you will take if you are going to enter the crypto society.

Well it looks like another blockbuster just for some Box Offices quick cash grab based on a topic which the society is living nowadays and trying to understand as real life thing.
If the movie is good enough and has no back sides (such as not proposing more fraudulent activities) then i am glad with it and accepting it as a good movie.

The message that the movie is passing to us should be clear, especially to new Persons who will try to join this crazy crypto world for their companies.

The need for self awareness might be in fact a good point from this Movie and it gives some insight on those fraudulent activities and how much anonymous you can go with Crypto.

I think movies are a good way to spread information. People imitate the heroes of the film, as well as will draw from them certain knowledge. Therefore, the more crypto will be shown in the movies, the faster it will develop.

Well the trailer shows something dark as a side, since I think they show it on the bad side, but the movie is good or bad, it will also cause a lot of stir, I think the impact can be positive, because it will show the world what It can be done with this technology and the amount of money that can be handled.

In addition the amount of visits that have been generated are impressive, only with the trailer people I think they are already very eager to see it.

We all know that it would always be a negative story but let's just enjoy the movie.

I don't think that movie will create big impact to viewers.
I have watched it already and from what I can derive from the movie - if you have no idea what crypto is all about, at the end you will still be confused on how to deal with cryptocurrencies.
The movie didn't tackle an in depth discussion on how to handle and work with crypto.
But they presented how crypto can be used to some illegal activities, which people can easily understand.
But all in all, it is a good introduction for new users, showing the presence of other altcoins, not only bitcoin.

Most likely, the topic of cryptocurrency will be affected only superficially. So often happens in films that are not filmed by directors documentaries. The fact is that in order to shoot really good bulk material about the effect of cryptocurrency in this area, you need to immerse and read a lot of material, spend a lot of time, but I do not think that the screenwriter will do that. Now in general, the plots in cinema are rather primitive and monotonous. Unfortunately, in terms of scenarios, the movies is very poor last time. (Therefore, I am skeptical about the future film.

Just watched the trailer through the link and it seems it'll be a great movie tackling crypto and how it can be used for laundering lol. If this becomes a success, chances are interest and awareness will spike and it may be a big help to what would be mass adoption.

This movie will suck hard in terms of statistics. It's not only a movie highlighting mainly the negative aspects of crypto, but we're still going through a bear market despite the small leg up that started earlier this month.

I'm pleasantly surprised that people have been pointing out the negative aspects of this movie, because it really shows that we have grown a lot in that regard. It means that people legit understand what crypto is about.

It wasn't all that long ago where not many of the new people who entered in 2017 didn't give a single shit about what crypto actually meant. People just wanted to see their portfolio value pump through the roof.

You are very right. I have watched the whole movie already. Those factors are the reasons why people have bad connotations when you talk about crypto. But the ending of the movie gives justice towards crypto. The lead actor ended up to be a crypto enthusiast, dedicating a room for his newfound hobby in their farm. I believe, that once you really understand the nature of crypto, you will love it just the way how the friend of the lead actor is so attached to crypto when he was still alive. People will be hesitant when you start talking altcoins, trading, etc. but once they do understand how crypto works, they will be an ardent supporter, just how the lead actor turned out to be.

By the way, I was thinking, he can put up solar panels for his crypto mining activities. The farm is so big after all.

From all that I could make out from watching the trailer was

• Money Laumdering
• Hacking
• Crypto getting stolen
• Bad people involved(probably Russian Mafia)
• Market crash

All creating a negative view on cryptocurrencies. The comments on the video proves the same.

This movie for sure would make a great mark in the history of cryptography, This movie will be sure to make great history. as it is a Facebook app that is famous to date. well, in this particular case it would be really bad. it will not just frighten ordinary people who thought of using it daily. it will tell a story about russian mobsters which will kill anybody for interferring their top secret... crypto is just a sphere used by authors to put an enigma here. so, nothing positive about crypto I guess

We should remember that even a bad publicity is still a publicity .
It is just funny first we have the wolf of wallstreet and now we have bear on wallstreet .
I just watch the trailer and I think this would be exciting to watch it is up to the people what to think about Bitcoin.
Besides what could be worst we already have so many negative comments about Bitcoin for the past few years since it made a noise in SilkRoad .

Its looking really good i am eager to watch but releasing on selected or on Demand theaters . I curios to see what they are telling about crypto currency . I feel like they are comparing crypto with underworld activity . I am eagerly waiting . Hope this will give some good thing about crypto currency .

i just watched the whole movie and although it mentions bitcoin and some ICO/tokens a few times the premiss of the movie is not actually about bitcoin being the big part of it. its mor that bitcoin was used just in the middle of the laundering

its about a guy who does AML(antimoney laundering) investigations. he starts out as some savant(genius with numbers) who finds alot of fiat corruption in a business he is employed by, they dont like how detailed his report was and so he is persuaded to instead go investigate a small town bank in his old hometown for a few weeks to let things calm down

he turns up at some liquor store where he see's an old buddy of his who they used to steal liquor from the store, now owning that store. and this buddy is really into bitcoin like most typical basement dweller fans. he even has a bitcoin ATM in the liquor store and some miners in the liquor stores coldstore

turns out this buddy is a bit of a hacker and does alot of research on companies and now does research on potential ICO's to make investments (non movie opinion, cant be that good to still work in a small town liquor store)

anyway the AML investigator sets up his day in a back office of the small time bank, weeding through lots of disorganised paperwork and eventually asks his buddy to help him out look into a few things (non movie opinion. suddenly the AML character that WAS meant to be super smart, now needs a guy running a liquor store to help him investigate..)

anyway long story short.
the bank is found to be linked to money laundering between an art gallery and a small canadian fishing bait shack(shell company for russian mafia) where bitcoin trading using an OTC is done in the middle to anonymise the funds a bit. all on the behalf of some russian mafia.

russian mafia find out about it, and burn down the liquor store (not before the buddy makes a video of some evidence and a bitcoin HDseedwallet passphrase) and the aml guys dad is kidnapped in an attmpt for the fraudsters to get the evidence back

in my view the movie is not a "crypto" movie, but more of a FIAT FRAUD movie featuring crypto. it doesnt really make bitcoin look bad but treat bitcoin as just an anonymising tool so its not a anti-bitcoin movie just a russian fraud movie

to be honest. i feel the tv show "startup" done better at trying to tie bitcoin/ico's into a story line than 'crypto' did. as the movie was more fiat laundering/russian mafia based

i feel the movie just had a weak fiat fraud story line and thought maybe if they throw in some linkage to bitcoin they could buzzword the movie and get more notoriety for the movie by naming it something bitcoin tech based. because without the OTC trading in the middle of the money laundering.. it would have been a plain boring fiat fraud money of not a strong storyline

I hope bitcoin can have also a film with a reality concept or trying to interview those who are already meet their success because of bitcoin so people will open their mind to embrace the crypto world.

Watched the movie and it was all hollywoodize and just used bitcoin as the catalyst to move the story along.
They could of just used money and wiring money via any other method available but they just put crypto in the name of the movie to entice the current generation into watching it.
Mafia washing funds and a small town guy stumbles into what is going on and put a bit of drama and there you go.
Not very good imo.

People are smart enough to understand a movie and the real life scenarios, but one thing is certain that it will introduce the market to a new audience and it is a free large scale advertisement in my opinion. There are many frauds happening in every aspect of life and Hollywood who was releasing series after series with the same theme because of lack of new scripts and interesting themes has taken their screen around the new upcoming market .

I was curious about this film, because surely for ordinary people it would have a negative effect. of course this is just a film, hopefully people think smart in responding

Yeah, I think that it's better for cryptos to have no publicity than be generally known as something used primarily by Russian mafia for money laundering 
This movie seems too pro-government, pro-centralization and pro-bank. A shitty action movie made by people who want to destroy the market and emphasize only the negative impact of decentralization and pseudo-anonymity. It's sad that people who'll see probably won't bother to take a look at whether cryptos really are that bad and stuff.Maybe they do understand, though, and do the disinformation on purpose, because of not being ready for changes. Or maybe the movie is being sponsored by banks (the company that made it is an independent = pretty poor).

The Hollywood propaganda is out in full force with this one.    One very bad movie about Crypto currencies, can create a lot of damage, like we saw with movies like Jaws.

They say even bad publicity is good publicity, but I would much rather prefer some good publicity right now.

That is right. This is movie has an overview and any connection regarding the crypto currencies, but it will have a huge impact to the crypto community more that is seems to lead in a wrong direction. But I am glad the movies have been engaging the concepts of crypto currencies within them. Hopefully more crypto related movies will come out soon.

The trailer of the movie is quite interesting, and we can see more similar movies in the falling days. These movies will surely make a big change in the people's mind, if the cryptocurrencies were projected in the right way. More common people will tend to experiment with bitcoin once after watching the movie.

I do think a movie about mark karpeles and his life story would be more interesting to watch the downfall of the exchange mt.gox instead.

Hopefully it will just reflect right on cryptocurrency, I think filmmakers will stand in the neutral. But if they use the wrong view of cryptocurrency to make a film about it, then it's bad, people will have misconceptions about cryptocurrency and lead to no interest in it.

That's what the trailer says so most comments who are true crypto enthusiasts will say it honestly. The trailer is definitely describing the old days when most people think that bitcoin is solely used for those kind of activities.

I hope this won't  change the minds of most that are trying to enter.

Saw this on trending>movies yesterday and was honestly letdown 'cause I was expecting a movie where cryptocurrencies are properly explored out, but judging from the trailer, it seemed to have relied on stereotypes too much which made it mediocre in my eyes. So yeahh, not gonna see this.

It would depend on what the movie is emphasizing about the crypto society. Maybe it good give a kickback on current bearish market if it will be seen by people that have no knowledge of the this tech. Hard part is if they are not interested at all then should be a problem letting them know.
This movie for sure would make a great mark in the history of cyrtography, remember the movie about facebook? After it was released facebook app have been famous since up until now. I think this scene would also apply for Bitcoin and all coins if only were seen.

Not bad (atleast theres a movie about cryptocurrency) , not good as well, because they're putting cryptocurrency in bad light. Movie plot was about money laundering, where infact that thing always happen in the banks than in cryptospace. Also, the cinematography looks a bit dark and nothing really interests me after I finished watching the whole trailer. I hope it would be different in the movie. I'll watch it anyway even if I had a bad pre-review.

I've seen the trailer and the comment on YT are saying it is a propaganda against us and I also agree to them that the quality of the movie really sucks. It shows that they use BTC to do laundering when everybody knows here that it is traceable and it's still favorable for huge money launderers to use fiat and banks.

It could also be that the maker(s) of the movie were just showing love for the coins they hold, but that's of course pure speculation too. On the other hand, the negative tint around the movie could also work against the cryptos listed, so I'm not sure what to think in this case. 

I've seen the trailer and it honestly is rather boring. I always need the trailer to grab my attention right from the very first moment, and that's not the case here. Thus far even most of the documentaries related to Bitcoin have been quite boring. It's either that my expectations are too high, or that it's legit not worthwhile content.

The whole thing i saw on the movie was not directly good for growth of cryptocurrency. If they want to promote cryptocurrency let them showcase the positive side of cryptocurrency instead of making it the two side(Positive and Negative). Lets watch to see good and credible movies about cryptocurrency.

I dont think they are mentioning bitcoin per se in the movie but generalizing it with the others as Cryptos and labeling them as so.
Lumping bitcoin and altcoins into the same name isnt doing its image any good to the general public.

I wonder if any crypto projects helped with funding to sponsor this movie. NEO and stellar are shown so perhaps they offered them some coins for advertising.

I think photography will be the same as when we talk about those films that talk about wars and political tendencies like a film about the Vietnam War.
I do not expect more than a link between cryptocurrencies and criminal uses such as identity concealment, blackmail, and murder, as well as a lot of misinformation.

It was clear the reference to "no phone numbers or address" and the Russian mafia.

Yaay and that's a real thing. Geez, just for the sake of money these people don't care if bitcoin will be perceive as evil or not. So I guess this is how real life works.

If ever will Nakamoto watch it, he's definitely disgusted.

because that's boring. you don't watch TV to see people in their regular lives doing regular crap, you watch TV to be entertained. and these types of story can be entertaining, to see people break the law! do what you can't do in real life, ... it is like a window to an alternate universe that you can sympathize with the protagonist.

I don't think this will be a good message for the public, it will just denote the bad side of crypto currency. Why don't they just made it a movie that shows people using bitcoin that made their life convenient.

Well, who knows it will pump the market since they got a brilliant idea where it can alternatively use.

I think this is a positive step to bringing cryptocurrencies at the forefront of people's consciousness, which may plant the idea to one day use or invest in them. If cryptocurrencies are used for nefarious reasons in the movie, some may associate them with crime, but those are idiots who won't matter anyway.

The comments left by the few viewers tell you what the general public think of it.
I think the movie will hinder its improvement on its reputation of what silk road did and all the exchanges scams going around now unfortunately.

Movie on cryptocurrencies is generally a good news as it will make a lot of people aware of its existence and make them intrigued about it. But I am worrying because this movie is probably going to show cryptos under a wrong light! Probably it will be shows as a tool to create a massacre in the financial sector or a tool for a corporate fraud. Even though the trailer is not clear about it because most probably it is going this way! It may create negative publicity about cryptos!   

Now that crypto has hit Hollywood, it can be either really good or really bad.
Really good, more positive recognition on AML and crypto compliance.  Leads to more widespread adoption with trust. 
Really bad, would be the Kardashian's KarCoin.
