Governments may try to do everything to stop people from adopting bitcoin, however the truth cannot be hidden, if you see that your neighbor bought a new car or they are making plans to improve their house and you ask them how they got their money, and the answer they give you is that they did this through bitcoin, then it is obvious you will become interested on this market, and the more this happens the more people will come and increase the positive outcomes people get out of this market even further.

I'm glad to see these kinds of numbers in France as well; I don't think this is surprising since I think there will be more investors in cryptocurrencies in the future. In fact, I think many other countries will have a similar number of investors as France has, as they have demonstrated more than any other nation. What surprises me, though, is the number of investors themselves, as even the survey has turned into proof to convince people.

Since many countries do not allow bitcoin, that is not a bad thing. However, I think that when some countries that recognise the value of bitcoin become successful among the rest, it will make them feel good about bitcoin. To be honest, those who believe in bitcoin will undoubtedly become successful people in the future because holding a bitcoin now is like holding an important thing.

IMO these surveys should have the margin of error and ratio on what actually it shows based on the demographics of that country.
But of course, even without that and with such simple surveys. We can see that France is becoming one of the countries that have people aware of cryptocurrencies now.
It's also possible that someday that it's going to be a number one preference of many young investors of a country but, we don't know when and only time can tell.

I think not only young people in France are so aware of Bitcoin but also the youth of other countries are very aware of Bitcoin. Maybe the young people in France publicized their investment so that people would know but most of the smart people do not publicize Bitcoin investing. Cryptocurrency investment is sure to pay you but it must take time to invest and hold for a long time until the price of Bitcoin reaches a high level. You are right that not only in France but also in other countries these bitcoins are circulating but they are not the only ones being published. Especially in the country where I live bitcoin is totally illegal but people don't know that bitcoin is liked in our country everyone knows bitcoin is out of circulation in our country. But one thing is that our country also has a lot of bitcoin transactions and everything but because of legal offense people in my country are not revealing anything about bitcoin. So we can say that Bitcoin is in circulation all over the world, the only difference is that it is published in many countries and not much.

It seems that many young people in France are aware of the potential of cryptocurrency so many of them have decided to invest in this instrument. Even though cryptocurrency actually refers to a payment system rather than an investment instrument, it doesn't matter as long as there are more people who hold or use cryptocurrency either for their transactions or investments. I don't know how this type of news comes out whenever Bitcoin approaches a rally but I can say they're often timely. This is timely, no doubt, and it will give a push to the incoming rally and occasion a rally before a rally kind of feeling in the market. Maybe this will even suggest that more surveys be carried out across countries to ascertain their level of crypto investments. The France survey is an indication that a momentum is building up for Bitcoin. It's going to be a huge rally, I trust.

Frankly, literally, it will be a tragedy for anyone who's a member of this forum not to latch on to this opportunity before this coming halving to buy and hodl Bitcoin. If they wait till the rally proper begins, they're going to chase price and that's tantamount to being forewarned yet refusing to be forearmed.

I've seen another member who agrees with my position that Bitcoin is more of an asset than a payment option. Yes, maybe Satoshi's original plan was for it to be a payment option that will cut off the bottleneck called middleman but what has given Bitcoin more coverage has been the asset part.

Yep, for the forum members relating things around us with crypto is pivotal stuff these days. Why it shouldn't be? That is the sole reason we have been in this forum for very long. There were different surveys that we discussed earlier also and it seems from every crypto country there is always all or some of the crowd who at least know about Bitcoin or other crypto coins and many of them do use it. This usage could be for anything from making profits on trade to holding the crypto in their wallets. I am pretty sure in the coming decade things will escalate to new levels.

I see a good correlation between the future and Gen Z. They want to try out new stuff regularly. With added courses about blockchain in the education system, they will push themselves towards crypto a lot. Whether it is developing a new crypto-based projects or evolving the existing ones they will make good use of crypto for sure.

@m2017, every research should be taken with a grain of salt, because the results of such research can be bad due to the bad methodology used, but as we have often seen in the past research can sometimes be done to encourage people's interest in something, and in this particular case case to encourage people to invest in cryptocurrencies.

It is not difficult to conclude who profits the most from such "research", and if we were to take an average of people who own cryptocurrencies in them, we would come to the conclusion that at least 10% of people in the world own them. To me, the figure of 800 million people seems quite exaggerated at the moment, of course, especially if we are talking about Bitcoin, where a realistic figure that many agree on is about 2% of the total population.

(Even though I was visiting the threads in different sections from time to time due to a shortage of time you know many hot topics got ignored especially in this section). Gen Z is all about technology, and this is their era. They could really benefit from the presence of technology, including cryptocurrency. I see the ease of access to cryptocurrency as a major reason why many people choose it as a more friendly investment model. Instead of diving into real estate business, it's better to try something easier and more realistic within a broader budget range.

If you mean the price of ETH going to zero, that seems impossible. Even though ETH comes with some questionable decentralization features, it's still better than some other altcoins out there. A 100% increase is still possible as long as the crypto world is growing and BTC leads all cryptocurrencies.

Am so surprised to have seen France at the top of it with real estate then followed by cryptocurrency as their topmost investments, this is a sign that bitcoin is fast growing in the country and the people are accepting it use for their daily economy, in finance, or asset management, they are well performing with this two among the most recognized asset of an investment, there's no doubt that bitcoin is the reason why other cryptocurrencies are being included as an assets even though bitcoin still remains the most valuable one.

I think a lot of important input must be considered here. I believe that it also depends where you ask. I think if people live in cities, it is more likely that they have been in touch with crypto one way or another, like meet ups etc. But assuming that they really asked people in that age range randomly, around 10% is definitely realistic. In rural areas some other assets might be more dominant because of different lifestyles, like land and housing (real estate). But crypto is all over the place when I talk to people about investments. The times are over when people were shocked when you tell them that you are "one of these dudes who invest in shady Bitcoin".

- My friend only expressed his own opinions and indirectly lied to me about this. Which I think is highly likely because he has lied several times before while we're talking.

- Another possibility is that I think the people who participated in this survey may coincidentally be more likely to be interested in cryptocurrencies. This is of course very unlikely but there is almost no possibility that this survey could have obtained data by asking questions to all French citizens. However, since the probability of this possibility occurring is very low I think the first possibility I mentioned may be more possible.

Those who invest in cryptocurrency may be larger than those who invest in real estate, but I think that the amount of investment in real estate will in any case exceed investments in crypto. In the upcoming bull market, there will be a lot of people willing to invest in cryptocurrencies, but in a bear market, a decline will follow again and people’s interest in cryptocurrencies will subside again, everything repeats itself every time.

 I would not be surprised with the result of the survey since the French government is all out supportive about the cryptocurrency development. Trading and hodling bitcoin as well as other cryptocurrencies are legal in their country, and this motivates more the young generation to seize every opportunity investment when it comes to crypto, most particularly bitcoin. Its a good thing about the French government as they never limit their people to only trust fiat, but trust in crypto as well as it could create more financial security in the future when their crypto investment has paid off.

If this information isn't doctored and very accurate, then I can say that here in Africa that we have the young ones leading the cryptocurrency business and been the number one investment in the most of the countries is not really based on the increase number of unemployment but actual interest from individuals because if France where there is great employments numbers than some African countries that are limited with employment, then it's a great development in cryptocurrency.

While this is great, there should be a number of stats that shows how much some people have made in average from those years because I remember very well that in those numbers, the successful number of people that might made it out from last year to this year crypto investment will not be much because many of them know nothing about crypto volatility. In fact, many of them might have invested in altcoins and shit coins than bitcoin that is more d safer and less riskier.

Most likely that's true - but I don't know if there is a survey that can be used as a reference to find out how many people use bitcoin as currency instead investment. There is already NFT but they are separated with crypto, despite being on the same niche. You cannot expect people to only invest in bitcoin and ignore altcoins, bitcoin is dominating the cryptocurrency market but the remaining 50% is the altcoin market. Bitcoin is the best and safest investment in the market but there is nothing wrong if someone does not choose bitcoin but chooses altcoins. Each person has a different investment perspective and mindset, if someone has little capital and is willing to accept risks to receive high profits. Investing in altcoins is more suitable for them. This survey covers the entire cryptocurrency industry, but if we talk specifically about bitcoin, I think the results will be different.

People are looking at it as a place to put their cash, and knowing that holding cash is quite useless because of inflation, some rather invest it, and it's kind of expected for me that the top 2 assets where they want to invest their money is thru real estate and cryptocurrencies.

Cryptocurrency are becoming more, and more popular maybe because of how much profit it can give to those who are investing in it. I mean volatility attracts many investors. Volatility, I believe is the main reason why many people are investing in it. The fact that you can gain way more compared to the stock market, and even in real estate is the reason why they're opting for it, but on the other hand, volatility can make your money lose quicker than other assets.

The adoption of cryptocurrencies is going higher, and higher, and I will not be surprised if in the next 5-10 years, people around the world will invest into it as well.

The survey looks legit and it is also quite surprising to see the results of the survey that crypto assets are in second place after property investment, but it says crypto not Bitcoin that they invest in other coins besides Bitcoin, and more of these coins were created only for the benefit of developers and we know how many scammers there are in the crypto world, this good development should also be followed by regulations from the government to reduce the movement of scammers who are always ready with new methods to cheat, but I am happy to see how young people are very interested in crypto and hopefully that will also happen in my country.

I see Bitcoin forecasting as an investment and not for settling payments. Therefore, you see downloads in the millions for platform applications and limited use of Bitcoin. Also, investing in Bitcoin, even if it is good, is not possible for us to know the real numbers, and the best we will find are approximate numbers from the tax data. This survey looks interesting to me. The findings as well as the investment options provided made me a little curious. Crypto assets almost making it equal with the top choice which is real estate funds? And then there's also NFTs as the top 9 most popular investment option?

These are surprising to me, to say the least. And then I also cannot find precious metals and stones like gold and silver. There are also no jewelries. And to a country which attracted artists for centuries perhaps, and has abundance of artworks, and where the city of art is located, I didn't see artworks. Surely, NFT hasn't replaced it?

Well, that is crazy I mean usually in most countries the most popular investment is either a Stock or Real estate in some cases maybe a mutual fund.

But crypto is on the top list is remarkable  . But who is dont want to invest in crypto if in some cases gate 100% profit in a year or when stake can double digit apy in a year right

I've looked at the charts and a lot of developing countries are doing well when it comes to crypto adoption if the reports are to be believed. The reason a lot of them go into crypto is because they have found an alternative. They live in countries where there is a high rate of unemployment and a high rate of inflation, so in their quest to break out the circle of poverty, they go into crypto.

Looking at that chart OP posted, it just got me thinking. A decade ago, many young people didn't have investments. This was because the investments were expensive and you have to have saved a lot of money before you can go into them, plus they were complicated. That is why it was mostly older people who had financial investments.
Today a lot young people have the opportunity to own an investment thanks to crypto.

I believe with time, crypto would top Real estate as the most invested asset in France,  in addition to the whole world if the survey should be conducted globally.

It is not two decades, since crypto came into existence, and it is topping some of the investment assets that have stayed for a long. It feels so good to know, that even the most topped investment(real estate) is just a few percent (1.3%) above it when compared with others that fall below.

I am much expectant of this to happen to other countries that would make crypto legal in their country. I don't think there will be any country where its citizens would know the importance of having crypto as another investment tool that won't have a good number of them investing in it

Without a doubt it is an interesting survey, however it is also important to be careful how we interpret the data, while the popularity of cryptocurrencies seems to be increasing and a higher number of people are investing in them, this does not mean that a proportional amount of money is coming to this market, as they could be investing just a small portion of their savings here in order to diversify their portfolios, while the rest goes towards other investments.

The current younger generation or millennial generation and generation z have found it easier to get information about Bitcoin, so there are many of them who like Bitcoin and have also made the decision to become cryptocurrency investors. Those who often like Bitcoin and invest through Bitcoin also have a very good influence there so I wouldn't be surprised if research on cryptocurrency investment would focus more on Bitcoin in parts of Europe there.

You do got a solid point on which im really that agreeing upon because of the current era that we do have today on which information could really be easily be exposed or would really be passed up then it wont really be that shocking that it would really be that so easy to scatter out when it comes to those things and its true that oldies wont really be giving a damn interest into something that they arent aware of. Some might really be that open minded to welcome some new things or innovations but most of them would really be sticking into the things on which they are really that knowing or simply sticking on which they do know that it is really that legit or something that they've been get used to and doesnt welcome with those new things that surface around but well its their choice.

Making up some survey on specific targets then of course you could really expect that young people would really be having that kind of approach on which cryptocurrency would really be indeed
neither be first or second of their priority on engaging into. We cant really deny that when it comes to profits or returns then this one wont really be that a bad choice

it could be because new investors they say invest in crypto-assets and NFTs. these are not specific though, they could mean play to earn games. the reason why they invested back in 2020 was because they wanted to diversify their portfolio and 2nd was that they believed in better returns. the most interesting part is that these new investors as gamblers.

I still think that it is a very equally balanced one but we should add in NFT with crypto too, maybe they are not coins but they are still in the crypto world, which means if you add 9.4 with 2.8, you get 13.2, and make it the biggest investment they have.

I mean surely NFT is not the same as investing into bitcoin, but getting ape nft or ape token is the same thing in the end and they are both crypto to me. This is why I believe that young people of France are investing into crypto more than anything else. This is a good indicator for the future, it should be noted that we are going to see more and more from other nations as well and eventually every nation in the world will have these type of rates on their young people.

Like I said, even if you ran this survey across all countries and targeted young people, the results would still be the same. Because it is understandable that young people are being exposed to more technology and they will almost certainly choose online investments like bitcoin.

I wouldn't be surprised because I'm seeing it right in my own country. My friends or brothers, most people know about cryptocurrency and most of them are already a part of the market. Investing in gold and real estate was the choice of older generations like our parents, and now bitcoin and cryptocurrency will be associated with our generation.

In third world countries people get into it without proper understanding and the same could turn against them losing their investment. This is the problem why we don't see much of investment preference from the third world countries towards cryptocurrency.

I would have be surprised if the results was not the way it is. There is a rapidly growing popularity about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. I propose that this survey should be done in 5other European cities and you'd be surprised that the outcome will still be that Bitcoin investment remains the most popular among younger people.

We can't expect everyone to appreciate this market. No wonder they are among the first world countries.
As they are open to this market, they will reap the benefits that come with it, which is actually good for the crypto adoption.
With their open approach towards this tech, this country will be a very good hub for crypto-related businesses.

France has been open to cryptocurrency for a long time, so I'm not surprised by that, to be honest. But it's still a good step they took; it just means that cryptocurrencies are so highly regarded, and France probably also saw the good it brings to their subjects and their country.

I hope all countries will be like this, as France did. Just think that most people who live in a country have a deep idea about cryptocurrency. I am pretty sure that it will greatly reduce the average percentage of unemployment.

No surprise there really, crypto is a much more accessible investment option for a younger audience compared to others afaik (and in my experience as well), heck even younger than the ratio here of 36. It's also probably why it's so prone to scams and people telling not to get into it since it's described as a "scam" by others. Simply because it's much more tackled/discussed in a lot of settings compared to others in a much broader range. It also doesn't help that you need a certain amount of level of income to even enter other types of investments like real estate.

Afaik there's that possibility where you co-invest with others, but heck, I hardly doubt people would even know of it in the first place compared to crypto which has already reached out to a big audience.

This is a legitimate move from them. Knowing how hard it is to penetrate the traditional asset classes when it comes to investments nowadays, spearheading into cryptocurrencies and making it big on the said realm is the best move. Good to see that there are youths that are already involved in investments as early as now and not every youth is destined to be mindlessly consuming media in every form.

Though of course, they should use cryptocurrency investments to break through the traditional assets as well. This is to ensure that they have diversified their assets and that they also have investments that can easily be accepted by a lot of people.

I'm not really surprised by the results of these statistical data, well we all know that cryptocurrencies are really attracting the world's attention at the moment, many young people understand cryptocurrencies better than stocks or other investments such as property and so on. Francis is one of the countries that has young people with good thinking, so they will definitely prefer investing in cryptocurrencies. i couldn’t even find statistics highlighting what are the most popular investments in my country all i found are articles advising people to invest and even with those articles, cryptocurrency is usually not part of the top 10 advised investments for the people in my country there has been an inclination of people investing in cryptocurrency but i do know that there’s still a significant lack of interest and information about cryptocurrency in my country

These stats about crypto in France are pretty fascinating! Makes me wonder how the crypto scene stacks up in other parts of Europe.  I know crypto is a big deal in the US, but I'd be curious to know if France is ahead or behind the curve compared to places like Germany, Spain, etc and  have you seen any interesting comparisons between countries over there? Well it's not surprising that Crypto-currency is the second most popular investment, and that's because of the hype around crypto-currency many people thinks once you into crypto-currency investment you definitely get rich. I think the narrative is wrong and many are falling for the wrong coin to invest in.
All investment involves risks and crypto-currency investment is not different and it has lots of risk with scam projects, bad Altcoins and ignorance from the part of the buyers, Crypto-currency investment would keep on growing but I hope we have more aware newbies to limit their vulnerability to bad investments.

I don't think anyone should be surprised about this, the older generation didn't leave anything but debt for the coming generation and Crypto is one place with level plain field that still exists in the world, to buy a house now is out of reach to many people but with a hundred Dollar and God helping you, you can turn this to $100k within a year or two, so why do you need to keep fuelling their rat race and not break free. I haven't read the report (if there is an English version at all), but I wonder if it's good news that so many French people invest in cryptocurrencies, given that most of these investments are probably in altcoins, which are mostly pump&dump projects in which the invested money is very easily lost. What I think from this result first is that the French are very keen and also informed on investment. When I read this and saw cryptocurrency as the second most popular, my interest was immediately raised to see the investment choice that was first. I think real estate will always be the primary investment that anyone could think, as young as 25, buying a house is already in their mind. But them adding crypto to their portfolio, it encourages the readers.

So, these statistics are generated based on interviews. The question is, how many respondents are there from the total population of France? I don't think 9% sums up the total number of French crypto investors, it's just the number of people interviewed.

On the positive side, this is the beginning of an era where people are aware of what they are investing in. But it is important to note that some investors who decide to invest in crypto with all its risks require the younger generation in France to become more aware and more cautious. Not all types of cryptocurrencies are safe. But regardless, I believe that with the open-mindedness of young people, both in France and in any other country, they are now more aware of the existence of cryptocurrencies as a simple investment alternative, which does not require written requirements like investing in real estate. As for the dominance of Real Estate investment, it has always been the choice of the elderly because it is to support retirement.

It's encouraging for sure! Especially in the world where multiple countries are still confused about cryptocurrency, France is showing the way. I would not be surprised by the results of this survey because if we conducted this survey with young people in all countries the results would not be much different. Even we ourselves can feel it in our own country. In my country, the majority of young people are investing in cryptocurrency, even first and second year students spend time investing in cryptocurrency. Life is getting harder and the need to make money is getting bigger and cryptocurrencies are attracting great attention when it comes to generating big profits. Therefore, it is obvious that young people invest in cryptocurrency.

I will not be surprised at this survey that cryptocurrency is the second after real estate. This is because the youngsters have seen the bright future of cryptocurrency especially bitcoin as a better investment which is worth to generate profit for them in the long run and it is very easy to get started. You are surprised about the popularity of investment probably because people who are investing don't really shout out their investments or their ventures, I mean most of the people around the world don't really talk about it anyway not to mention that most investment or investing companies don't have any advertising of what they offer. The legitimacy of the survey says it all cryptocurrency is a young generational asset thus in my perspective it going to gain full maturity in the use case with the next generation behind us. I think those that assume they are coming late into bitcoin essentially needs to read this and contrast it to the next generation that will be adopting bitcoin what would be said of them if the people adopting today are complaining of arriving late.

I can see that the survey looks very legit. More than 8k people were surveyed, and the results are supposedly representative of the adult population, which I think it's probably true. I didn't know investing was such a popular thing in France, as 1 in 4 people invested in something, and that 9.4% is from the adult population of France, so we're talking about millions of crypto investors in France.
I'm happy to see such great numbers in France, and it would be interesting to follow the dynamics in the future (does the percentage go up, down, stay the same).
