For experienced people, it is easy to see a cryptocurrency as a fraud. However, for newcomers like me or some of us, we will deliberately consider many factors, such as:
- Team anonymous - fake profile
- No roadmap (development journey) or yes that is not realistic.

How to know if cryptocurrency are scam or not
A scam is a situation where we are deceived.
there is a characteristic scam cryptocurrency that can be seen at the beginning, such as
-No whitepaper or no clear whitepaper
-No web or low quality web
-No vision mission or short term target and long term target
-No roadmap
-the dev profile is hidden
-Passive community with the dev team
-etc

but there are also those who can not see until the end, even from the beginning it looked promising but finally we got a scam too.
this type is very difficult to detect a scam or not.

How to know if cryptocurrency are scam or not
Crypto currency is ideal for scammers. It is great interest, everyone talks about this, while only a few really understand how it all works. People perceive bitcoins (and other crypto currency) as a way of quick and easy money earning.
And for scammers this is an ideal environment and a way to quickly cash in. On the Internet you can find a huge number of different schemes of fraud (from scams with ICO to fake wallets and fake exchanges). And every day there is something new. You must constantly monitor news and analyze information.
All these schemes are designed for banal greed, belief in the fact that you can quickly and easily earn a lot of money, etc.
It seems to me that a universal way of protection is common sense and logic. If you do not see the material benefits for the other side, then these relations are manipulative. If someone offer you too much and very quickly - it's a trap.

I think you can easily check if the cryptocurrency is scam or not if you know coinmarketcap.com you can see if the cryptocurrency is scam or not there are many scam cryptocurrency if you didn't find them in coinmarketcap the coin or token is scam just always choose a cryptocurrency which is listed on coinmarketcap.

Also, you can use this http://coinmarketcal.com you can check some project there with lower votes and no proof, for me, it's not a legit cryptocurrency or token but if there are many votes and with proof  and higher percentage you can say that the project is real and legit.

To verify that it is fraudulent, you should refer to the criteria such as project, safety, economic fluctuation and what I think is to understand the nature of the problem before making the final conclusions. I'm still learning more from the experts at this forum.

How to know if cryptocurrency are scam or not
Here i have prepared a list of characteristics that are common to many frauds and which you should avoid if you do not lose your money.
1. Unrealistic Claims - Ponzi scheme
2. Mining in the Cloud - Fraudulent cloud sites are trying to lure investors to promise easy profits simply by investing in core capital.
3. Bitcoin Package Packages (BIP) - These packages are very profitable at first, but due to the Ponzi principle they operate, they have limited durability and end when new users stop coming.
4. Multi Level Marketing (MLM)
5. Lack of key information - No white paper
6. Insufficient or no information about members of the development team
7. No real support
These are the points i follow, and it is up to you to follow them too.

I think if it's a scam, the project never displays their workers in the video (in the sense that they won't show their faces)

That's actually a good observation. It is not necessarily a rule thumb but it defitinely gives more hope when you see the team members in the video.

  • Go to their website, it should have an 'About' page where you can learn about the project and the team.
  • Look up the creators on LinkedIn, see if they have a Twitter, read what they tweet about.
  • Examine their whitepaper. It should be easy to read and understand what the project is all about, what new it brings.
  • Look up news about the project, read user feedback on forums, or ask about it here.

Anything that resembles a ponzi scheme is a scam almost at all times. When you have to invest your money and they are put in escrow for a long time. Also when you get paid for bringing new people to the project.

How to know if cryptocurrency are scam or not

In fact, bitcoin is not a virtual currency, so calling Bitcoin as "encrypted cryptocurrency co-ordinate" is accurate, calling it "virtual" is completely false. You can study carefully before a problem or consult with someone who comes first to figure out if the problem is fraudulent or not. Goodluck!
