It looks like it never even was alive to begin with.

It's really a shame, I like the idea and it's an interesting concept to develop on. It could probably be possible to use the same private keys for transactions, and at the same time to sign messages and make sure that both parties in the chat are who they claim to be.

This could be an interesting project. I had a similar idea after running a messaging software company for many years, so happy to learn somebody is actually doing something in this area.

Obviously as with any idea, it's all down to execution. There are so many parts that you need to get right - and it normally takes years to build a solution that is (1) fast and scalable (backend), (2) has working, responsive and attractive UI (front end) covering at least three popular platforms - web/desktop, iOS, Android and (3) has all the features that popular messenger apps have such as Telegram, WhatsApp, WeChat etc.

How are you planning to address all these? What protocol do you plan to use for text messaging layer - would that be XMPP (used by WhatsApp and many others), something like MTProto used by Telegram or something proprietary?

There are many challenges to resolve here..

It is a similar application to WhatsApp, uses the blockchain and is decentralized.
The messages are sent to the public key of the users.

I divided the project into different reusable parts: A library for the universal P2P network.
A library for all projects that require a universal, extremely fast blockchain.
A software for the node (which essentially consists of the two projects joined together).
And the messaging software Cryptogram, which uses the above two libraries plus all the part of graphical user interfaces.
