I wonder if we will get back our funds from Cryptopia or we lost it forever? Maybe only user with big money will get it back and we simple user not? I hope soon we will know more details!
Did you received their email? they promised that they will "refund" their users and will open a bigger exchange than they had before.

We get our coins back? That will be miracle, however I have no confidence on Cryptopia. It’s so disappointing and unprofessional attitude from Cryptopia. I'm stuck yet we have no option to wait. Since they are in the possession of our assets, at that point return may possible.

I've just noticed they closed because i invested long term and i wasn't checking it regurarly.
you shouldn't store your coins on an exchange for long term investment, that's bad practice
if you do daily trading, keeping coins on an exchange is somewhat understandable
I, too, lost small amount of coins there for my laziness to move them to my own wallet

Things like this are the dead of cryptos. Now i start being very pessimist for all the market, bitcoin and bigger coins too.
any altcoin devs out there would always recommend people to use the official wallet for long term storage
for someone who is into crypto world you disobey the principle of "be your own bank"

What happened shows that any user should withdraw their funds from the exchange after they've finished their trade.

I think that what happened is more an indication that people don't care and almost beg to lose funds. We have had so many examples of why people shouldn't leave any coins on an exchange, but they still continue doing it.

For what will happen to exchange is unpredictable. Cryptopia, even how sh*t they are to other are way better compared to other mid-range exchanges around.

And besides, it's not about storing coins why we used these exchange. In my case, my altcoins there are only traded in Cryptopia with a good volume. Now to minimize the risks of being scammed should I trade it instead on DEX with dead volume? Of course no. Therefore I will use Cryptopia as I have no other choice compared to just idle my coins on a secured wallet and wait for it to become dead. I already got a decent profit playing from Cryptopia and for what happened to them is part of the risks.

Could you suggest me a wallet to contain all the altcoins, or at least the most possible please ?

There is no such thing as wallet that can stored all altcoins.

However, there are multi-cryptocurrency wallets. You can consider using:

a) Hardware wallets (Ledger, Trezor)
b) Coinomi
c) Exodus
d) MyEtherWallet for ERC20 tokens
Thanks guys (you and Squatter), yes this was also the reason i had my altcoins on Cryptopia. The difference with you is i didn't have any profit from them..  Cry

There's no wallet that contains all the altcoins but Coinomi probably offers more than any other. They say they offer support for more than 125 blockchains and more than 1,500 blockchain assets in total.

Keep in mind, the multi-coin wallets (including Coinomi) are not open source. It's still a better choice than storing coins on exchanges, though.

There are even safe clients out there that allow you to securely store the worst possible shitcoins, so you don't have to leave anything on an exchange at all. Most shitcoins also have fast confirmations so you're not losing much time either sending them back and forth for trading purposes.

This is the answer i didn't want to read. Thanks. I have only altcoins too there, lot of them.. Things like this are the dead of cryptos. Now i start being very pessimist for all the market, bitcoin and bigger coins too. Hopefully the future will prove i'm wrong.

What happened shows that any user should withdraw their funds from the exchange after they've finished their trade. Security must be the first priority for any exchange, and that they should not store their cold funds on a single place altogether. If there's any effect from that incident, it's for the exchange itself.

Crypto is not dead, you can still use crypto and development is going strong. Just because one exchange got hacked, doesn't mean you can't trade your crypto via other means, such as P2P trading.

Sorry, what do you mean with "learned" ? I've just noticed they closed because i invested long term and i wasn't checking it regurarly.
Just would like to know what we can do to get our criptos back. Anyone ?

After the incident last January, they re-opened and allowed BTC withdrawals last April. Others were able to get out.

And then several weeks later, the worst case scenario happens.

I suggest starting to move on now. I also have some funds left there which is purely in altcoins. Chances are slim that you will able to get hold of your funds again unless some miracle will happen after the liquidating process.
