I've had that weird negative balance issue in the past, and they have fixed it promptly.
Keep in mind they have constantly improved their site over time (it doesn't lag like all hell anymore, they lowered btc withdraw fees, they got rid of high minimums for altcoins that you can get stuck with, offer a mining contract if that is what your into, they're attempting to get escrow, they're attempting to get usd....granted forever they have been saying the last two.)
I can't see them going the way of gox, at least not until they get usd
Plus, when your located in Florida, you know better than to fuck with people's money.
My only issue is the cryptsy points are a fucking joke and should yield higher returns.

Started using cryptsy back in December when I started mining, and since then they have done what I stated earlier. Any other exchange I have used since then has either, a. disappeared, b. increased their minimum trading limits so I get stuck with 1 millions shit coins on 90 different sites, c. been down so fucking much I can barley get a trade in, or d. had so few coins that it was a pita to coinswitch
Noone is complaining about poloniex and they have been issuing me a balance return slower than dogshit.
Besides, how many people are willing to put usd in an exchange not based in the us after the gox fiasco?
I see people complaining about bitstamp daily.

like i said you are new to this , i've been 1# promoter for cryptsy since this time last year! So i take this personal as i've put my reputation on the line for them and have seen all the shenanigans go on and on and on !!!!! Right now i can't even withdraw my coins because of some bug!

I also started to panic when I placed sell orders for multiple alt-coins a few hours back. All alt-coins gone from my balances but not BTC deposited and the 'Open Orders' tab was blank! I thought FML all my coins are gone and I'll have to go through a whole life with Cryptsy support to get everything abck in place, but everything looks sorted out by itself.

Negative balance happen there on a regular basis. last major one that affected a large number of users was only a few months back. Hopefully it gets sorted out but people have lost money there from these bugs eg: orders being processed multiple time resulted in negative amounts in one coin (usually btc) and huge surplus in another.
Some of this seems to go undetected for months before the full audit corrects it, and because occurs long after, it then makes it difficult to get cryptsy to acknowledge, fix it or do anything more then a copypaste reply from their support repeating the situation they have or asking for details that cant be provided anymore and a donation for being "helpful".

So....the update caused balances to be too high in some accounts and negative in others? I'm sure that is a possibility but it would be good if someone could just confirm this.
At the moment it has the appearance of...."its just an update, nothing to worry about"
But naturally that might make people ask about the wrong balances.

I was concerned, but it seems to be back to normal now.
Let's hope the audit is accurate because I had a highly unusual negative balance right after a buy order was completed.

"normal" you mean back to being ffcked up? I finally got my negative balance thingy sorted after trolling the mods for weeks and now it's more of the same! FUD is when you make baseless statements for your own gain. This is just keeping it real. How do they expect anyone to have confidence in USD/BTC exchange when things like this keep happening time and time again? This ain't nuffin new ....i think their database was breeched but thats just a WAG!

I have been banned from chat it seems for saying this...so they obviously are trying to keep it quiet.
It appears that the guys who are admins in the chatbox don't know what happened, but are trying to tell everyone it is all ok.

This supposed unexpected update or audit or what ever they want to call it is quiet fishy.
