I think it's a bit embarrassing that this seems to be the only forum (that I know of) without avatars.

Why not switch to Gravatar instead?

Is there a way to put in a request to have an avatar enabled? Or is it pretty much just wait? And if it is just wait, does anyone know how long the wait will be?
I so want this limitation to be removed as iam stuck with the same avatar from the starting so it feels irritating sometimes when i see someone with cool avatar !! 
Seems strange that in addition to custom avatars, they also got rid of the 20 or so "generic" ones with Bitcoin logos, etc. Can theymos not trust himself not to exploit the site?

surprise retracted, caught wind that theymos is spending $$$$$$$ on shiny new forum software, so expecting everything is gonna remain unfixed as not worth the bother until that rolls out.

Since this was supposed have been caused by something that sounds like such a "classic" configuration error that it gets a mention in the wikipedia article on PHP http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Php#Security
