I think it might actually be as who is doing the trolling here  Grin.

There are no trolls on this forum. The forum rules state quite clearly it is forbidden to troll.

It's true, I've read the forum rules.  Cool

Think what you like.

Nooooo, this is not how the Internet works. You need to mount a defense and then ridicule the other poster. Have you learned nothing in your short time on the Internet?

Jesus, people start provoking people and laughing about it in the thread I created to discuss this problem!  Huh

What one may call hostility another may call a sense of humour  Smiley

Seems some people can't take a joke or have skins thinner than paper.
I won't get into an argument over this, it seems I'm getting trolled.

Trolled by who? I think you really are new to the internet.

You know whzt they say, you meet an asshole in the morning, he's just an asshole. You meet assholes all day, then you're the asshole.
Ingeniously! First time I hear this one! It's like a bullseye quote for the whole forum paradigm. Cheesy

The people you see stirring up shit are likely on everyones' ignore list, I've actually found this is one of the only forums I haven't got banned off or had to deal with some really unpleasant wankers, mainly because of the ignore function if I'm honest because it means I don't have to put up with them trying to conversation I'm having with someone much more sane than they are.

Have you ever considered the problem there might be you?  Grin

What one calls sense of humor another may call being forced to handle hostility Smiley

Why are there so many heated exchanges and aggressive behaviour prevalent on these forums?

Thank you very much for taking that up. I am puzzled about the same thing, and curously I had actually just posted about
the same thing, too (at the end of #103).

Watching this with interest ...

This is not a phenomena that is exclusive to bitcointalk, internet forums in general are a source of heated debate.

The forum seems to be a breeding ground for bad blood. Why are there so many heated exchanges and aggressive behaviour prevalent on these forums? And why is it the hardware reps are so unprofessional and start shitfights in other hardware reps' threads?

Seems like an awful amount of people here with chips on their shoulders...

Not to mention the different miner devs starting shitfights in each others' threads...

Disagreements about topics that people have a financial stake in creates conflict. If you have a huge amount of money in some new risky stock, and everyone is telling you that the company is a scam and is going to disappear, you are going to get defensive.

To add: Many are also incredibly thin skinned, easily offended.

Are you new to the internet?   Cheesy These people are everywhere because it's easy to fight and argue when you're hiding behind the anonymous protective shield that is the internet. And like Salty said, people can get especially passionate / defensive about things when they've got money involved in something. Go to the alt section and politely critique a crapcoin and you'll get aggressively mobbed by people claiming you're a troll or are a hater haha.

I think it's because we are mostly geeks so far and don't have the best social skills.

I do agree that we should be supporting one another more and other forums are
much more sedate than this one.
