I think it is a good move by the authorities to have discussions with these ICO developers, the way things were painted as if PBOC team made the decision in isolation is misleading. This is what I think will happen, there will be new regulation which will be strict for ICOs to follow

On interview with one of the leading financial newspaper of the Netherlands (www.fd.nl), founder of NEO also known as Chinese Ethereum states that he was contacted by Chinese regulators to provide information and suggestions before crackdown.

It therefore means there is still disccusions ongoing about what they are to do. The outcome will still be about more and more regulations and the moment that is done, the dust will settle. For contacting him is really not a big deal especially since he is one of the major stakeholders in that part of the world and since he is a citizen, he will be accorded some form of respect than they would do for an outsider.

Chinese regulation would mostly affect the investment coming from Chinese people in the token market which can be replaced by others.
And the coins being decentralized can operate their office from outside of china.

NEO saw its initial success in large part because of Chinese investment. As Chinese investors are growing skittish about cryptocurrencies in light of the recent news, many may be working liquidate assets quickly. The result seems to be that NEO has plummeted in price, and it's likely that there will remain a great deal of volatility in the Chinese cryptocurrency market for some time to come, too.

I think the neo founder's suggestion is not heard and run by Chinese government, but we also do not know. Hopefully china immediately open the door or ban for ico. Why? Otherwise they will incur losses.

You know, it does not really even say if he was contacted in a formal capacity. For all we know, it was a friend working in the unnamed departments that contacted him. Can we say insider knowledge, anyone? People are still wondering who the originator was for the September news even before any exchanges made announcements.

IMHO, China will end up adopting NEO and it will moon...specially GAS.
They need a Chinese flag bearer...can't let BTC or ETH which are for them foreigners rule the crypto world.

IMO, there will be no crackdown because most of them are complying to the new regulation and the amount of resources/time it would take to the authorities to track it could cost them alot
