This would be something new.
Its more risky because this will attract just a small group of people.

There actually is a site now: ggfantasy.com https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ggfantasycom-bitcoin-daily-fantasy-sports-free-and-gpp-soccer-contests-1430457

They offer soccer contests (seasons are over however, so nothing going on right now).

They plan on adding NFL, NHL and NBA though.

maybe you should run some sort of poll or on of those google multi choice question thingy to see how many bitcoin users are interested in betting fantasy sports with bitcoin.

besides you will always have the option to add the cash(fiat) investment to your site if the numbers are not good, in order to get more players.

The popularity of Daily Fantasy Sports has increased immensely over the last couple of years.

Would anyone in the community want a fantasy sports platform similar to the American Fanduel or Draftkings, but with Bitcoin?

this is a great idea because it is fresh and nobody has done it before. so if you can create a good service then you can be the first and biggest in this scene.

How much demand would there be for this type of service?

it is hard to say. but i think it can have a good demand.

Why hasn't something like this been created yet?

as my top comment suggest, because people are copying each other. they see there is a good revenue in dice so they keep creating new dice sites.

Despite fantasy sports leagues are being more and more popular it seems that bitcoin casino and sportsbooks developers are not familiar with this phenomenon.
And it is not like fantasy sports is more popular than betting on live sports events anyway. I guess creating something like this would be a little too risky.

Thanks for the reply Maku.

Yeah, it seems it could be risky if not done right.  I saw there used to be a site called extrapoint.io that allowed playing with bitcoin, but after visiting and trying to play it seemed pretty bad.  Not that the developers didn't try to do well, but play didn't even come close to the experience of the top fiat based offerings of fanduel, draftkings, or even yahoo.

I think if a bitcoin daily fantasy sports site got closer to these industry leaders experience it would likely do well.

this is because most of the gambling site developers are copying each other and they just want to go with something that is tested like dice, poker ,... so they are afraid of going into unknown territories. but with this big risk can come a huge reward.

I think the business people still assume that fantasy sports are still a little bit of interest in this and they decided to create a site that is now favored by them. And if there's a fantasy sports gambling sites open but few enthusiasts, gamblers May still not know for sure what that sports fantasy. Hopefully there is a businessperson who wants to open a fantasy sports gambling sites

If someone launches a platform for fantasy soccer with bitcoins I will be over the moon. I have tried playing the UK games but being a foreigner I am not eligible for entering the prize pool even if I finished in the top places. As Bitcoin gambling is worldwide this will be an amazing opportunity to enter the market of fantasy sports  Wink

Fantasy sports is huge business in the US. I'm also surprised none of the bitcoin gambling/sportsbooks/poker sites haven't already dipped into that market, especially now that states are cracking down on FanDuel and DraftKings, wanting their cut obviously.

I'm into fantasy sports - namely NFL, and seeing as how the attorney general of my state, Texas, has joined other states in ruling fantasy sports illegal, I would definitely be interested in a Bitcoin Fantasy Football platform.

As with other gambling platforms, bitcoin and fantasy sports is a match made in heaven - as it allows for fast deposits/withdrawals and no need for giving up personal/banking/CC infos.

It would be a first mover advantage so in that regard a bitcoin fantasy sports betting site may acuatally become popular.

If you want to creat something like this, better do it now before the big boys come in and take the idea and volume away from you.

Anyone have any thoughts on this topic?

I've played some of the major offerings before and they are a lot of fun to play, but I'd rather play with bitcoin than fiat.
