What is the best source for keeping up on crypto news, especially factors influencing currency prices (if it exists)? Eg, most of the major cryptocurrencies are down in the past 24 hours, some significantly (monero ~ 10%), and why is decred up 42%?

Cryptocompare.com is pretty good. Essentially, you make an account there, and every day you are emailed updates in the cryptocurrency world, which I find quite useful. Also coinmarketcap.com allows you to check concrete figures like which coin went up or down and by how much, as well as things such as daily volume and market cap. Also, just keep an eye out on this forum about which coins are being released and talked about etc.

Those you were suggested is really good perhaps I already apply it on myself and I can say that it could help to those who are into crypto world. Most of them has a good condition it terms of being updated in terms of pricing.

I always check around the information only in coinmarketcap, I think it has been a role model since I started playing crypto.
I do not know yet about other sources,

I find myself popping into coinmarketcap.com and coincap.io
a few times per day just to keep an eye on the top 10 positions!
Good info!

From time to time in the day, I usually check at coinmarketcap for the daily update on the cryptocurrency market where you could check the actual price per btc and the other altcoins. Aside from the price market value, you may see whether it is green or red so that you will know either the price is going up trend or down trend. And lastly, you may able to know the market movement base on the graphic chart representation that could help analyze the people's choice on which possible promising coin they would invest.

I think this CCN is very good and up-to-date. I follow the news through their Telegram channel:

I would prefer to see what news is being provided on the social media platforms, for this I mostly use Twitter as it is a platform used by many professionals rather than facebook used for social networking purposes, in twitter I usually follow posts from many investors but my main source of classification is those sources which have a lot of likes.

Twitter!

Twitter is the only source to get a wide range of good and fast information if you follow the right people/accounts. There are lists of good crypto accounts to follow on Twitter. Google shows you them.
Apart from that, there are good single sources like blogs and informative websites which cover mostly one topic only. Therefore I prefer Twitter.

where you see decred up 42%, i see decred stuck at 0.00265 and it has been like this from many weeks already after the recover from 80k satoshi, the only altcoin that is up is dash and that's it

It was up 42% in the prior 24 hours at the time that I made the post. It was then down 20% the next day. If you look at the past week, it has been very volatile.

Sometimes there are no reasons for the price growth and it is not related to any news. Usually people are buying on rumours and selling on news. Most of the rise and fall cases are typical pump and dump schemes.

So far, I always check the market through coinmarketcap which I found shows pretty good information about recent update of cryptocurrencies. But, if you ask for a site that could tell you why significant changes of those coins rise up or fall down, I've never seen one

It is near impossible to base the price movements of most coins on news. The movements happen before the news is released. Unless you got inside information, you will always be missing out.

Also, when bitcoin makes big moves, this also influences altcoins price as the fiat value often stays stable.
