If we go the design competition route, does anyone have opinions on https://99designs.com.au vs http://www.logomyway.com vs [...] ?

I like the design we have, although I think we can still get a new logo - based on the same design, but more refined, so that it looks even better. The black/grey scheme should also be considered - it's kickass.

I like the original versions from the OP more than the one with a keyhole. They are awesome.

i think the logo is modern, professional with that 'dark' edge to it which makes it perfect.  As the proud owner of 10 Darkcoins now that i've switched my miner across to it, i'm excited about this coin!

Nice to have my pc using about 40% less power mining Darkcoin than the other scrypt coins too

LimLims made a collection of some of the alternate designs that have been proposed so far:

Thanks for the link.

Personally I think this is the direction the logo should be going...

I don't think the current design is bad, per se, just kind of meh. (IMO, The vectorized version is the better of the two, though.)

...or as eltito suggested, doing something like 99designs just to see what others can come up with.

I like the vector version way better than the original. The dirt smudges on the coin in the 3D image is a bit off-putting. If those were cleaned up, it would look a lot better. Maybe darkening the navy blue a bit more too would help.

Personally I like the current logo. And the slash in the D goes back to when the coin was changed from Xcoin.

Be we do need a back of the coin for the physical coin.

I'd also like to suggest that the designer of the current logo be compensated in some way should his/her design be adopted in an official manner.

The logo is fine, it just needs a designers final touch and mutliple sizes, icons, etc.

Are we married to the sexually excited D?

Personally I think taking it to 99designs and paying an award there - even if the result never ends up being used - would be beneficial, if merely to get some outside the box thinking from other designers.  It's not that I don't like the current one, per se, just that I would like to see what else other designers can come up with before committing to it, or for ideas on further branding development in the future.

Another vote for "it's fine", the bounty funds would be better used for other projects.

I thought this had already been decided?  These logo's are fine.  Why do they need to be changed?

Here's the current logo for Darkcoin and it's vectorized version. Should we change it? If we do, we're going to use something like 99designs to have a competition and have the community design what the resulting logo will be.

Vectorized (For icons and websites)
