Darkcoin's rise over the past several hours is certainly meteoric, but all altcoins are recovering and so it is neither unique nor particularly special. The value you'll want to look at is the "30 day" change % on the right of this chart (in which Darkcoin is still the second biggest loss), since it is safe to say that "success" is at the very least a measure over time and not over 24 hours:
