I saw it online and in the frist sets Luke Litters was better. He lead 4:2 and had a very good chance to make the 5:2, you have to see that... maybe there are replays on youtube. He should have thrown 112 points (3x18+18+2x20), but he throws 2 darts in dripple 18, unfortunately he doesnt hit the last dart in the double 2, that was very close. Those were three throws that changed the whole game, he didnt win a set after that. He lost all, 5 in a row, a knockout. It would have been nice that a 16-year-old didnt become world champion, that would have been something completely new.
It was maybe one of crucial moments of final. Littler was close from making his lead very comfortable. And then Humphries showed masterclass, winning 6 sets in a row.
Teenager winning World Championship would be something that would be hard to repeat for someone in future. But I think everything is still ahead for Littler. While Humphries win was well deserved.
This ournament had everything - Littler making history, some big upsets, huge comebacks. Except one thing is missing - 9 darter.

Littler had some chances, especially if he would have gone up 5-2 in sets but in the end Humphries was better and scored some crucial checkouts. Too bad for Littler but he will come back next year and it will be interesting to see if he can again get so far as there will a be a lot more pressure on him. Littler recently got invited for the Premier League which is good as it gives him the opportunity to play a lot of matches against the best on a big stage.

with a strong comeback including final sets at absolute world-class level, Luke Humphries stopped the 'prince of the palace' Luke Littler with 7-4 - and crowned himself world darts champion for the first time. 'cool hand luke' had earned this magnificent success with over 20 180s and a strong double rate, among other things.
what the number 3 seed L. Humphries and the unseeded L. Littler (ranked 31 in the order of merit) also achieved that evening was a new world championship record of 180s. the 902nd of its kind at this tournament followed in the middle of the eighth set - there had never been more.

16-yo Luke 'the nuke' Littler defeated Rob 'voltage' Cross 6-2 in yesterday's semi-final and used the first match dart over 'his' double ten in the decider of the last set.
the youngster won his sixth ever match at the world darts championship and will now meet Luke 'cool hand luke' Humphries in the final this wednesday evening, who rolled over Scott 'shaggy' Williams 6-0 in the second match of the evening. there is definitely a new world champion.

This should be a good match! I hope that Littler can win the title, would just be a great story! What a talent he is and if he can continue like this, he will dominate the field and win a lot of tournaments. Humphries had a good season and had a few scares this worldcup, but still managed to survive. My money is on Littler!

and so you can be wrong, because anything is possible in this world championship! Shocked
the unseeded Scott Williams defeated the highly-favored MvG 5-3 yesterday and will now meet Luke Humphries in the semi-finals, who had no problems in his 5-1 win over Dave Chisnall.
the other semi-final today is Rob Cross vs Luke Littler
Damn, my post aged so badly Cheesy. After Van Gerwn lost 1st set 0:3, I thought it's just slow start. But things didn't changed that much further and it was difficult to recognize Van Gerwen yesterday.
Expected much more from Chisnall, but this match was such short, Humphries won comfortable.
Seems that Littler is favoured a bit against Cross, but I will refrain from predictions here. And Williams vs Humphries, don't want to understimate Williams after yesterday, but I don't believe that he will make another huge upset.

Evening session isstarting soon. For me it's difficultto imagine Van Gerwen losing against Scott Williams, only question how many sets he will need for a win. Othergame between Luke Humphries and Dave Chisnall should be more interesting, though Humphries is quite obviously favoured by bookies.

A final between Littler and MvG would be my dream final also but than I think Van Gerwen will win it, allthough you never know. Just checked the odds for the match Littler vs Dolan and couldn't find any real value. For the bookies, Littler is the clear favorite to win, his odd to win is only 1.18, which is no value at all.
And as expected, Littler didn't had any troubles against Dolan and won 5:1, though he was close from winning in 5 sets. Other match between Dobey and Cross was much more interesting and Rob Cross won it 5:4

WTF I just watched? That was crazy. Joe Cullen was up 2:0 vs Luke Humphries and makes big comeback. Then Cullen misses 2 match darts in 7th set and cherry on top Humphries missing 9 match darts and still surviving it. Crazy how Cullen bottled it. You can rewatch epic last leg here:
https://twitter.com/OfficialPDC/status/1741245008424907163
Luke Littler eliminates another big name Raymond van Barneveld and he is already in 1/4 final.
And yeah, getting names like Michael Smith or Gerwyn Price eliminated so early, now Micheal van Gerwen is main contender to win.

I also also saw it, indeed just crazy! Cullen should have won it but at the right moments , Humphries made some nice checkouts. In the 9th leg he keps on missing match darts and Cullen got another chance but in the end he still won it. Littler keeps going strong on this world championship, his next opponent is Brandon Dolan and also against him, he stands a chance!

the next big surprise came yesterday in the evening session. Chris Dobey clearly outclassed the reigning world champion Michael 'bully boy' Smith 4-0.
in another duel (also on the evening), dutchman Michael 'mighty mike' van Gerwen confidently beat Stephen 'the bullet' Bunting 4-0 to impressively prove his claim to the world darts championship title.

Saw the match of "Barney" and his first set was really bad but he had the luck that Williams missed a lot of doubles. The rest of the sets were better and his average improved so will be an interesting match against Littler. Read the interview of Van Gerwen afterwards and in his eyes, he is the only candidate to become world champion again. You can have confidence but he is just arrogant.

Gerwyn Price, another favorite, was eliminated from the darts world championship last night. the welshman lost 2-4 to the northern irish outsider Brendan Dolan.
Luke Humphries had a little more trouble against the german Ricardo 'pikachu' Pietreczko and won 4-3 after trailing 1-3

Littler keeps winning and if Van Barneveld can win his next match against Williams (who beat Peter Wright), than it will Barney vs Littler. That should be a good match but Van Barneveld with hid experience would be the (big) favorite if he keeps throwing like he did in his first match but you never know. Imagine Littler going all the way and even winning the title, would be sensational.

Michael Smith won vs Madars Razma 4:1, but it wasn't that easy as it may look. In 4th set Razma was leading 2:0 and was close to make set result 2:2, but then he made some misses and lost his throw. And player like Michael Smith don't forgive such mistakes.
Michael Van Gerwen didn't had any problems against his countrymen Richard Veenstra and beat him 4:0. Journey of teenager continues - Luke Littler eliminated Matt Campbell. Only match todaay where all 7 sets were needed was between Scott Williams and Martin Schindler. It ended with Williams win, who was underdog here.

I see that nobody isn't talking about Littler. He is just 16 years old, before tournament probably nobody didn't even knew his name, but now this teenager is already in third round what is impressive. He beat veteran Andrew Gilding in 2nd round, next he will face Matt Campbell and have good chance to go further.

Litter is amazing indeed, great talent and his average in the first round (106) was simply amazing; one day this kid will become world champion for sure!

Wasn't able to watch darts yesterday, but from what I see, it's incredible how Van Den Bergh lost and Hempel  made comeback. Winning first 2 sets, having 3 match darts and still lose the game, sounds amazing.

The funny thing was that nobody gave Hempel any chance after the 2-0, you would have a nice amount of money by betting on him at that time lol. Another sensation yesterday with Aspinall being kicked out by Evans, we already had a lot of surprises this world championship.

I have a dartboard in my house that's just gathering dust, can anyone explain to me how the scoring works here and how to determine who wins? I'm trying to impress my friends when they come here this New Year or before the New Year to celebrate and have a drink with me and eat some food. Does the scoring goes higher the closer you are to the bullseye or the farther you are?

okay, let me explain the rules to you so that you can have a lot of fun with your buddies on new year's eve  Cool

each player has three darts, which he throws at the target in immediate succession. depending on the tournament mode, the score is counted backwards from 501 or 301. the points of the fields hit by the player are subtracted, then it is the next player's turn to throw their three darts. only darts that remain in the board are scored. only the first player to reach exactly 0 wins: if the player scores more points than necessary, he has overthrown. it is then the opponent's turn again and they can try to win the game. if it is now the turn of the player who 'busted' (overthrew) the board, he starts again with the score he had before his last throw.
the 'double out' mode is the most popular. to finish and win a round of darts, the double ring must be hit and 0 points scored.
in 'straight out' mode, any field can be thrown to end the round as long as the player reaches 0 points. beginners are recommended to start with this variant first.

the elimination of the seeded players at this year's world darts championship continues apace - yesterday it was northern ireland's Josh Rock who lost 1-3 to Berry van Peer from the netherlands.
and Nathan 'the asp' Aspinall was also eliminated yesterday - he lost to Ricky Evans in three sets and hardly had a chance.

What a loss of Van Den Bergh! He was 2-0 up in sets, Hempel was in bad shape and not throwing good and even the commentators thought this would be a walkover. Suddenly Hempel scored better and Van Den Bergh missed way too many doubles and eventually even lost. Also watched the match of van Barneveld, one of my favorite players. He looked in pretty good shape, was good at the doubles so hopefully he can get far this tournament.

Didn't expect that Wright would loose but he played extremely bad, his average was only 84 and he missed a lot of doubles also. Will be an interesting world championship as there is not 1 clear favorite for the title. People as Price, Van Gerwen, Anderson, Smith all stand a chance in winning the title again.
For me Peter Wright is one of the most fun players to watch, but yesterday he had very poor game and with such averages it would be difficult to win. Williams deserved to win, while Wright got eliminated early like last year.
Currently Scott Williams leading vs Danny Noppert (7th World Ranking), so we may have another big surprise.
Agree that there is no clear favorite to win this year
