Target Audience
This product is intended for people, who are interested in programmatic trading of bitcoins (or other supported currencies), but do not have time or expertise to develop their own trading infrastructure. Most likely it will not satisfy the most sophisticated traders, where a trading edge in speed is required.
Some History.
My name is Evgeny and I am Canadian. I own small, couple of guys, Datamata Corporation and is in business since 2002. In 2003 I quit fulltime job as a Java Architect and tried to go on my own with "Datamata SQL Portal" product (live demo is here www.datamata.com), which for it's time was cool, but ultimately failed. By 2005 looking for income, I moved into programmatic trading and was quite successful trading my own account with my own software. Overtime I developed an elaborate proprietary trading framework, writing everything from scratch, even something like FIX protocol implementations.
In March I discovered Bitcoin and decided to trade it as well. Few month of hard work later I got this Trading Station, which turned out to be quite nice. So, I want to see if there is demand for this kind of product. I already have a failed software experience, so this time I do not want to put all the commercial bells and whistles, before it is clear that people need it. In worst case I will just keep it for my own trading.
What is Needed.
I need reviews, comments, ideas. At this point I am ready to modify functionality and add new features. On the technology side the expertise is here to make the most sophisticated product on the market, marketing is the weak link, and I am testing if the idea would fly.
I would appreciate reviews of the Bot API. It is based on my experience of trading stocks and the idea was to make it dead simple (I could not make it simpler and still functionally complete). On the other hand Bitcoin is different, and here I could use a lot of help identifying API problems.
If somebody wants some other exchange access, let me know, I will put it in. It is not much effort to support a new exchange at this point.
Licensing.
In this section I will not make many friends, because eventually I will need to charge something, this is my only job. The Station will always be free with some credit to start, but to do extensive trading one will need to buy more credit with bitcoins. The price per trade will be a small fraction of exchange's commission.
Security
For MtGox and BTC-E the trading station will only accept keys with INFO and TRADE rights. Accidental keys with WITHDRAW right will be rejected. With BitStamp real login/password is required, so please, at this point connect to only accounts with few Satoshi.
Your keys and passwords, for now, are saved in a setup file with some encryption, which will not withstand a sophisticated attack. So please, ensure your computer security from 3rd party viruses.
Generally, on behalf of Datamata Corporation I declare that this and other beta versions of the product do not and will not collect or transmit ANY personal information.
