Don't start spouting BS about how all the topsekret1337 botnets are developed on TOR hidden sites and how botmasters use Bitcoin as a 1337ultrasekure form of payment.

I've got some bad news for you...

Tell me more, I'm listening.

Botnets will get more and more expensive it looks like. If they are accumulating btc, who would rent one to someone else when it might harm their bitcoin position? Maybe they will even have a contract not to attack bitcoin sites or demand a cut making it more expensive, if they really are doing this with the goal of accumulating btc they would be smart to implement honor among thieves. In the end these same people may end up defending bitcoin. Bitcoin army.

Why do you think botnet prices are linked to BTC?

I dunno if they are, its not my thing. I'm just speculating that people who have bitcoin don't want to ruin the project.

I think key to avoiding DDOS is to have enough sites/platforms available for trading = less targets. If everyone uses the same site it will always be a prime target, some might try to weaken the prices just so they can get their foot in the door and stock some coins. To be honest I think early adopters will be less suseptible to knee jerk reactions, this might be a different story when/if the mainstream and every day people climb aboard. I would venture a guess most people do not even know what a DDOS is and would rather just wait for the government to call terrorists.

Will these hacker be smart enough to prevent it? They get more profit if it doesn't happen, but the more the price raises, the more likely it is to happen, or not?
Well, the DDOS attack on MT.Gox yesterday did not affect the prices as much as to equivalate a 'bubble burst'. I'd guess most investors are smart enough to not get thrown in the panic selling by now if yet another DDOS occurs.
