Good news, unfortunately this is mainly the online market, or so it seems... Japan is probably one of those countries in the world where Bitcoin would work REALLY well on physical commerce Smiley

I guess it's a start!

Great news! Due to the meltdown of MtGox, the development in crypto world is lagging behind a lot in Japan! Hopefully they will catch up soon!

Excellent news I agree. BTC needs to regain trust in Japan & other Far East countries after the MtGox disaster. Japan is a hot bed for tech advanced people, the sheer number of people there too means this is great news. I hope this reopens the door for BTC to massively succeed in Japan. Very bullish in my opinion.

Gladly I think even if Satoshi was japanese, and MtGox was japan based, Bitcoin wasn't big enough to affect alot of japanese people. The people that got scammed by MtGox got extremely frustrated with BTC and some are not coming back.. and can't blame them. I just hope japan becomes one of the main countries to go mainstream with BTC. They should be proud that the creator is japanese.

A deal between bitcoin exchange Quoine and payments network Econtext will allow more than 20,000 online and eventually physical merchants to accept bitcoin in Japan.

The move essentially allows merchants that already use Econtext's payment processing services in thousands of online stores to accept bitcoin payments without the need for a bitcoin-specific processor. The service will be available for businesses to use today.

Quoine CEO Mario Gomez Lozada said his company had entered into discussions with Econtext last year, and has since done extensive integration work to connect it to Quoine's payments platform.
