Well, no one guessed Sad so here is the answer:

In the early 1990s laws were passed to put the child seat in the backseat.  Before that parents were putting the child seat in the front seat.

Amazing what a large difference such a small thing makes, but it's easy to forget your child when they are sleeping and quiet.

Before 1990, an average of 2 children per year in the US died in hot cars.  

After 1990, that number jumped to 40.

What changed?
