The Big Bang Marshal is the only one I know of that has 8 slots (even counting x1 slots).

how are you going to power the 8 GPU? as that would require a 2000W+ PSU, are you going to combine PSU?

If he's using 5830's he can probably get by with a 1600W PSU. Each 5830 adds 120W (actual measured power draw, at the wall socket).

The ONLY one that I know of is the XL-ATX, MSI Big Bang Marshall http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130595

You can run 8 cards via extender and PCI->PCIe adapter. There is no need for a $400 motherboard. One can use PCIe x1, x4, x8 and regular PCI slots with zero loss of hashing speed.

Anyone who's ran this many cards have any advice on decent motherboards? There are plenty in existance, I'm just not certain of what brands to steer away from with current available models.
I understand this, and agree completely! Hence the comment "ain't cost effective"!  However, where is there another MoBo with more than 7 Slots? I've never seen one that wasn't a dual CPU server board.

So I picked up some 5830's and would like to fine a decent motherboard with a combination of 8 PCI x16 & x1 slots. Old school PCI slots would work fine too as I can use a PCI->PCIe adapter.

Anyone have any cost effective decent suggestions?

Thanks for any input Smiley
