A- not my paper, I have nothing to do with it

B- it's relatively decentralised. That is, relative to things like reddit. The difference is that there is not one central authority with all the power to determine what is free speech. There are three layers of moderation -- mods, operators, and the DAO.

Even if we assume your paper analyzes how it decentralizes this kind of data:

If the website/forum is decentralized, then the data cannot be altered by a single entity neither from a moderating team. If the website/forum doesn't have an entity and every single user has equal rights, then either no one can enforce the rules or everyone can enforce the rules.

Whatever the case, if a website/forum doesn't have rules (which is the same as having rules that can be enforced by anyone) then it can't accomplish free speech as it'll be perpetually infringed. So, centralization, in this case and in certain limits, is a must.

This is nothing more than a token associated with the forum. it certainly does not deserve a spectacular announcement, especially can't be called decentralised even if the domain is registered on the Godaddy domain registrar. in case the domain owner forgets to renew it in just 24h, GoDaddy will put them on auction after that it can very easily be used to promote some nonsensical product from Aliexpress.
what is decentralized here?

What I see here you are trying to promote the website? There is no link or page that tells you that the forum is decentralized.

yes obviously. He got a few clicks from here, that's probably all he'll get from this effort.

You raise some good points. Nonetheless, the domain (BBS.market) merely allows you to use the network. All the posts are transactions are stored on the blockchain held by each node.

I have very little understanding of this, to be perfectly honest. But I think it is a pretty cool project .

I’m not affiliated with BBS.

Admins are chosen by individual forum starters

I started the BBS Bitcoin forum

Happy to answer more Qs on there

As for your question on censorship, it is answered here: https://bbs.market/METABBS/posts/2sGbG2mp05xqFqO8ysVJ?selectedCategoryId=ALL
That is very short explanation and it is confusing me even more.
I wonder who exactly are this operators choosen by admins and how exactly are admins selected (probably by some central authority).
If I understand it correctly, all this is based on EOS that is centralized so I can't consider BBS website or forum to be decentralized.

I agree the design of the site is pretty poor ... they need a search function, etc.
Are you in any way affiliated with BBS team or you just created page for this BBS bitcoin forum on their platform?
In your first post you said that you made that forum.

Hello, thanks for your replies.

Some links explaining why and how BBS is decentralised can be found here: https://bbs.market/METABBS/posts/gmipRqu1CJQhyFjkOvCm

You made a point about servers — BBS can run on any website. The top one, StarWars Theory, doesn’t run on BBS.market.

I agree the design of the site is pretty poor ... they need a search function, etc.

I think he just wants to call it Decentralised Forum and the designed look Reddit.

It also looks like a micro earning site where you can post a micro task and pay someone who does the task and the link above tried to post there and I didn't receive any USD in my wallet. A search a bit you can only withdraw them in BBS token so it's an ERC20 token.

What I see here you are trying to promote the website? There is no link or page that tells you that the forum is decentralized.

A new blockchain-based project called BBS has created a “decentralised reddit”, where you can earn from posting.
Can you please explain how exactly do you consider this to be decentralized forum when it is running on centralized servers?
I can see that domain was purchased and registered in Israel and works like any other website... so if domain or server is shut down, BBS also goes away.

I have made a Bitcoin BBS forum. Please check it out: https://bbs.market/NAKAMOT/posts
It looks a lot like some combination of reddit and twitter but I can't find any Search field, but maybe I have to create an account first.
It's funny to call something decentralized with CEO, CTO, president and al others based in Israel and  have unknown amounts of BBS tokens (probably based on EOS Roll Eyes).
Can I post anything on BBS that you don't like and get banned and is there something not allowed on BBS?

Hello,

A new blockchain-based project called BBS has created a “decentralised reddit”, where you can earn from posting.

It takes Satoshi Nakamoto’s genius technology and applies it to the human endeavour of communication to create a censorship-resistant network of forums with a monetary reward system.

I have made a Bitcoin BBS forum. Please check it out: https://bbs.market/NAKAMOT/posts

Thank you very much.
