I think it'll be big after phoenix release. You can also host your website on testnet already now.
https://www.shiftproject.com
Exactly. That's the conclusion I came to as well after reading their website. So like you said, it's going to be decentralized like a separate internet, but at the same time its back-ported to the current internet, so you can use regular domain names and point the website to the corresponding IPFS hash. If there's any problems in the future with the current centralized systems starting to get out of control with censorship, it wouldn't affect any data being hosted on Shift's Phoenix IPFS cluster. Censorship is getting worse all over, and Shift is building upon protocols to ensure data and communication remain resilient and censorship-free.
The cluster will be run by individual storage node operators, not necessarily coin holders; anybody with the minimum technical requirements can setup a storage node and start to earn Shift coin for providing data storage. From what I've seen on their Discord, seems like they will be focused on building out the desktop app for browsing any other networks, maybe even darkweb, Ethereum Web3 integration, etc. Yeah Phoenix release is coming up and nobody knows about it yet.
