Hello people ! Gaining a bit of inspiration from crypto, i was just wondering ... is there any ideea of a decentralized political party ? I mean i could see it posible if only in theory . I live in an Eastern European country, and over here political parties are preety much a closed circle ( you have to either be born in the sistem or have a LOT of money to penetrate it ) . Plus the party leader/leaders are overly exaggerated authoritarian ( dictators ) .

So ... any ideeas ?
Do you know how we could stop this corruption ?..
You should only be able to donate no more than a £100 to a party of your choice ..
And any politician gets caught taking backhanders goes to jail for 15 years ..

Now what favours will a politician do for a £100 ?..Not much if any Wink..

And if you get caught taking bribes as a politician then you should be jailed for 15 years ..

NEW RULES for the 21st century.. Grin

So easy to put in place and why cannot we not have this in place WE ARE THE PEOPLES ..
And we should decide the laws of how we want ourselves PUNISHED ..

Not some snooty Oh need i say more?..

No more big DONATIONS only £100 MAX ..

And no more DINNER DATES with politicians to pay to do favours..
You get payed by the PEOPLE for the PEOPLE to do a job for the peoples NOT YOURSELVES..

The problem with this is a political party needs to have some form of voting power and ability to execute on ideas. There are so many issues in politics that are completely grey. With this you have to still take a stand that becomes black and white. It's a great idea but tough tough sell on how you would make it work with block chain technology.

These is a fantastic idea I think the main problem with a decentralized political system would lead to too many disagreements. Politics are all about compromise though. How could you work compromise into a blockchain system?

And how would that be functioning? Every political party is organized according to some hierachy and loyalty so not everyone if he is member of the party can't do what he wants. But that doesn't mean this is not democratic approach. I have a feeling that people just have too much expectations of decentralization.

You should have a look at this project : democracy.earth

http://democracy.earth/ : "A borderless peer to peer democracy."

Decentralized sovereignity based on liquid democracy.

I also remember of a post on the ETH blog explaining how to build you own voting app on a smart contract :

https://www.ethereum.org/dao

All of this ideas and projects are simply fascinating ! Since I've discovered blockchain, I think that human has the potential to change the world

I'm not sure what part of the political party you would want to be decentralised.

In the UK, pretty much anyone can start a political party, and can even run as an independent candidate without joining one.  For example, the UKIP MP Douglas Adams later decided to quit his party and continue representing his constituency as independent.

So the democratic process is decentralised, even though the FPTP system gives people an incentive to stick to just the Conservative and Labour parties.

What is possible with the blockchain is a safer and more transparent voting system, which would help to mitigate corruption.  The European Union published a paper on this topic, but it's yet to be implemented in any country that I know of.
