In Europe there was big trouble with profesional taxi drivers (the classic way) fighting against these 3rd party smartphone app car services. The taxi drivers from the old school will not let 3rd party people to eat their market and they will sabotage you if you try to get on there.

Save the ratings for the "in car services" that will flourish around it when it's driverless

Bumped for having the best user name I've seen here.

Of course the taxis will just drive themselves in a few years so you won't have to worry about the ratings system altogether.

For some reason I don't think this is a good idea. The reason why the ratings system at sites like Silk Road worked so well is because it was very easy to make a scam look like something actually happened that prevented a user from receiving their products. So when a seller would give a partial refund or send their product a 2nd time (but less) the buyer would be happy. I had never bought or sold anything on SR, but I did frequently read through their forums and browse their listings and I would say that I am almost certain that this is what happened.

Another problem with your idea is that it would be very easy to give yourself shell ratings that would make you look better then you really are, it would be almost impossible to stop this and would make it so users would distrust the ratings system.

The last issue that your idea has, is the same issues that services like Uber has (except this would not allow drivers to be vetted at all). When someone gets into an accident there would likely be a dispute as to who is response for your medical bills, and it will likely be you.

Learning how darkmarket can work as well as the rating system, i predict there will be a decentralized model that follows closely to what Lyft and Uber are doing. insurance and financial backing could work if the concept behind the dark market succeeds, it could become reall blow to regualation building the entrepreneur spirit back into the 'taxie' aka ride sharing.  Created great drivers who will make good money. Where as bad drivers ultimately get fired.

The market can mature if enough drivers participate, there may come a time where people will have a seclection of which vehicle will pick them up, IE i could own a newer lincoln town car, with integrate sound system with the customers pick of music, easy on the cologne, and be on time, clean cut, well dressed, clean car, smell free.

the passeger may be able to chose a higher milage rate for a fancier car, better qualified driver etc. Entrepreneural spirit drive business are often ran much better that huge conglomerate..

Bitcoin will eventaully get into the mix but is still too early.

Im wasted. Peace out fellow bitcoiners with you love me or hate me. dont hate.hate is a very toxic energy/emotion to experience
