I am not a fan of these browser extensions at all. I do not want to use Metamask at all.
You have right to be not fan of it. Meta Mask is not safe because it is always open on Internet. It is a wallet direcly in your Bowser and it is always connect to your Internet. When you are visit a hack Internet site hackers will have direcly access to it because you are direcly on hack site from your Bowser where your Meta Mask is in.

Maybe i was confused about Metamask before? more or less my Funds are always coming and going from my wallet? Metamask is more of a gateway between the wallet and the destination i am sending or receiving those funds from?
I understand your concern about using browser extensions, but it seems like you might have had a misconception about Metamask. You're correct in saying that Metamask acts as a gateway between your wallet and the destination you're sending or receiving funds from. It is essentially an interface that allows you to interact with decentralized platforms.

If you still prefer not to use Metamask, there are other non-browser extension wallets that you can consider. For example, hardware wallets like Ledger and Trezor provide high levels of security and can be used with some decentralized platforms. Alternatively, explore mobile wallets such as Trust Wallet or Argent, which also support staking and interacting with decentralized platforms.

First of all Metamask is open-source and is the best EVM Chain that I ever know I mean you can add dozen other EVM chain by just clicking some mouse button in chainlist.org

Meaning you can play or stake with other DeFi and other Chain and most of the DeFi out there is using accepted Metamask as their provider at the first place.

mk4 said it would secure by using Hardware wallet + metmask and it is true made new wallet and then combined with hardware wallet for second auth and revoke deposit smart contract on http://app.unrekt.net/ or limit before you made an approval the guide can be find here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.61934163

Anyone know or can suggest of decent wallets that are not browser extension types that would work in decentralized platforms? please and thanks all for your help.
I can only think of one app for that, Trust Wallet. Though only available as mobile version, it's open-source and community-driven (at least that's what they brag about themselves). If you want to run it on desktop (Windows), you can run an emulator or have Windows 11 (I heard it supports android app now).

Just use wallet connect (settings >> wallet connect), using it you can connect your wallet on any system, all transactions will have to be confirmed by you through trust wallet on your phone only despite being connected to other places.

Metamask is easy to use but it's really not completely secure, I mean as the OP says Metamask collects information about your computer especially IP and other information in the background.
Everyone remembers what happened with Metamask at the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Why you can't  use MetaMask. Metamask is easy to use and save. But in terms of security and ease of use, hardware wallets and mobile wallets are great alternatives to browser extensions like Metamask.

For my opinion, in other options use hardware wallets like the Ledger or Trezor. These wallets are not browser extensions and can be used to interact with various decentralized platforms.

Another option is use a mobile wallet like Trust Wallet or Atomic Wallet. These wallets have built-in decentralized exchange (DEX) support and can be used on your phone. I think, it enough you use it.

MetaMask is safe and decentralized wallet, https://metamask.io/ trusted by over 30 million users worldwide. Websites do not see your balance in MetaMask, if you do not connect to them. And before any transfer, you need to accept and sign it, so this is safe wallet. If you need specific tokens, for example, BNB Smart Chain tokens, you have not another choice than MetaMask wallet.
So if you like MetaMask wallet, use it.
How it's decentralized if they're record user's IP address and not allow citizens from few countries due to conflict or politic problems?

The number of installed aren't proving if it's really 30 million users, it can be manipulated.

There are many choices of wallet and it's easier to use than Metamask. If you want to receive a token run in BSC, you need to add new network, otherwise you might lose the token. Other wallet doesn't need this, it's automatic.

Hi everyone. I need some help from the community. I want to move my crypto to being more decentralized, To which I want to stake my coins in decentralized methods and platforms.
However it seems many of these decentralized platforms favour the Metamask wallet . I am not a fan of these browser extensions at all. I do not want to use Metamask at all.
Anyone know or can suggest of decent wallets that are not browser extension types that would work in decentralized platforms? please and thanks all for your help.

You can use Trust Wallet as a software wallet that functions well and can connect with many Dex platforms. Moreover, Trust Wallet supports almost all cryptos. Not only Trust Wallet, but you can also use many other wallets, but I think Trustwallet is easier. Hardware wallets are also great for you to use, but you will need to spend money to buy one.

There's no way to stake your token in the decentralized method. There are lots of wallets you can use it like wallet connect, tokenpocket, trustwallet and many more. If you don't want to use metamask and just pick one from those wallets. The thing that i know is when you are staking your token in decentralized platforms and it requires you to send your tokens to the staking contract, you will get LP for that. You will able to stake your LP.

Hardware wallet is the only best way for you. I think that any desktop or extension wallet has the same risk. How safe the wallet depends on how you can save your wallet securely.

There are several wallets that I think are safe for storing crypto assets

1. Trezor
Trezor is known as one of the most secure Bitcoin wallets. Trezor is physical so it is quite different from other Bitcoin wallets. The shape is similar to a regular USB drive. There are more than 600 types of digital money offered on Trezor. You can make transactions in it.

2. Keepkey Wallet
Another physical wallet option for cryptocurrencies is the Keepkey Wallet. The keys will always be stored in cold storage so they are out of reach of software hackers. KeepKey Wallet can store your Bitcoin assets virtually or physically.

3. Ledger Nano X
This wallet is offline based, aka not connected to the internet directly. It looks like a normal USD drive. To use it, simply connect the Ledger Nano to your computer and follow the setup process.

if you want to change wallet and dont want to used metamask , then first search what platform is available in your country, and what is common. by the way you can search it in Google and YouTube as well for feedbacks.

because there's a bunch of available platform in the market when it comes crypto wallet especially for mobile devices.. such as trust wallet, mew wallet, and so on.. So you better make a research which one is good for your needs.

Trustwallet used to be an open-source wallet, but now it's close-source and they lie about that.
Click here to see their (outdated) source code on Github. It has been four years since their last update.

Lying and claiming being open-source is surely a red flag for trustwallet.

Every wallet is a gateway if you're going to send or receive cryptocurrencies. Metamask is a wallet and that's the purpose of it.
Metamask is the best version for altcoin storage for Bitcoin such as Electrum. And so far it has faced no problems using metamask.
Coinomi and Trust wallets can be an option if you don't like metamask, or using a hardware wallet means you have to invest more because you have to buy the hardware but this is really the best for security.
Much better to get into hardware wallets, in the past, there has been some problems with Coinomi and although I think that many are using it and doesn't care about that past issue. Still, it could be considered as a factor whether to use it or not.

That's right, basically all coins/tokens including yours are circulated in the blockchain, not stored on Metamask. (simple explanation) The address serves as a checker for how many coins/tokens from all supplies in the blockchain the address has. A wallet platform like metamask is just a connector to the blockchain network which helps you to access, manage your wallet with customizable settings.

Who knows what decentralized platform you would like to stake your tokens on? Actually you don't need to ask here, just know what app the platform needs to authorize your wallet, it will appear in the pop up after clicking connect wallet. Walletconnect is a common option widely used besides Metamask.

And coinbase wallet is also widely used as an alternative to connect to many websites but it's a close source client. However, i didn't ever hear that someone got hijacked his coinbase wallet. Supporting many different chains, coinbase wallet has a version for all operating systems: https://www.coinbase.com/wallet

I agree about installing it on your phone if you really want to avoid it as a web extension. It's no doubt that it's one of the most preferred wallets because of its flexibility and usage thus, it's also very popular and easy to be familiar with.

After looking for some alternative, you can have an idea about these other wallets. I'm familiar with a few of them like Coinbase wallet, wallet connect, trust wallet and safepal.

You don't have to use Metamask as an extension on browsers like Chrome and Firefox. Instead of that, you can install Metamask application on your mobile phone. You can also use its own browser when you need to connect your wallet to a platform.
Metamask application is available for both IOS and Android users.
I agreed this is the best one to use instear the browser extension. I am also doing this when Im transacting and doing some activity on metamask, though some platform prefer the desktop version though.

Who knows what decentralized platform you would like to stake your tokens on?
Those platform that are secured and has audits. Cause when you do staking on decentralized theres no way that you wouldnt connect your wallet.

the browsers are always viewing your usages on the the computer.

You're not going to be able to stake your funds without showing them to a browser though? Is your concern that you're using a browser like chrome or Edge as you could exclusively use Firefox with the extension (which is open source) and that would probably be more secure to to not use your main browser for it.

As long you are doing a good security practice, you are safe. AFAIK, I haven't heard of any security vulnerability on the Metamask Wallet. The one who gets hacked mostly due to the users' side.

the browsers are always viewing your usages on the the computer.
IIRC, Metamask does watch your browser usage, not the system. Mainly they did it to prevent users from accessing scam sites since they have the lists. They don't send any data regarding that. Additionally, you can freely turn off the Metamask analytic option.

The best way is to follow the above tips, to use Metamask with a hardware wallet. But beforehand make sure you comprehend the basic security guidelines.

MetaMask is the best that we got unless you want to run a Ethereum full node and do some command line work. Browser extensions are what's used for Ethereum platforms simply because it's an easy way for the wallet to connect to the platform.

Tip: use a Ledger/Trezor + MetaMask.
