guiminer with cgminer did in fact run all weekend without incident, with no flags. guiminer with poclbm failed after minutes, not an overheating issue at all.

Yes, I received reports about this problem, but I need your help to find out the cause. I suspect that it's some kind of bug that was introduced in poclbm/guiminer recently.Can you please try either cgminer or some other miner not based on poclbm/guuiminer just to check if the problem will persist or not ?

In GUIminer, with CL, it's not a heat issue.. after a few minutes (and always under 75 degrees) i get a pile of long poll I/O errors, then it's like this:

With BFGMiner, you can disable longpolling... --no-longpoll is all it takes, or disable it from the ASCII interface.
How many GPUs do you use? Maybe dynamic threading for multiple GPUs might cause issues?

I'll try it on cg over the weekend.. I don't get as high a rate as with poclbm, especially with my aforementioned cl tweak, but worth a try.
I can really recommend BFGMiner. In my experience, it runs best if you just pass it URL, username and password - OTOH, if you tweak it a little, it can give you a quite a few MH/s more, which I explicitly do not as I'd like to keep the temp of my GPU below 90C.

Hi Tycho, I appreciate all you've done with deepbit, the quick payouts are great, the only reason I've stopped using it is the long polling errors that would prevent it from running overnight. Is there a solution to that?
Thanks for your feedback.I received some reports about miner "freezing", but don't know the exact reason yet. In two cases it turned out to be caused by GPU overheating (somehow it didn't happened with other miners), but I noticed that it only happens with GUIminer.
Can you please check if same thing happens with cgminer or something else not based on poclbm ?
