The easiest way to earn a default trust position is to leave negative ratings on all known or unknown scammers. Then the DT members would trust your ratings and add you to the DT list. Another way is to be active in the lending section and that earns you a position pretty quickly. Trading barely holds any importance as it is necessary that the members in DT level 1 should add you to their list and if a member trades with them or uses their escrow services, earning a position in the DT list is tough.

I'm curious because there are many users with green trust with 40+ and are not in default trust

Trust score is not much important, esp. with accounts being bought and sold.

It is not correlated to being in default trust either. For example, shorena has a trust score of 13 (when viewed with default settings),  but he is on default trust, and is much more trustworthy than most of the others who kind of got higher trust score incl. myself.

The content of the feedbacks is more important than the score itself. For example, some get a green trust just because they used an escrow who was in default trust, which doesn't actually mean anything if you are looking for trustworthiness.

Always use escrow. Smiley

Since the system got edited and scores are higher +40 is not that huge. I do not think trust scores really factor in so much. My trust score is higher than most if not all depth 1 users, and I am only depth 2. I think the main criteria is having a large personal trust list built up and contributing a lot here. In the end Theymos picks who is in and who is not.

This is helpful.  Is there a link somewhere to the current DefaultTrust trust list?  I looked in the stickies above and didn't find it.  I figured out it's a user account.  Do I have to add DefaultTrust to my trust list to be able to see who is on it?

Given how much people talk about default trust and potential abuse being able to easily see who's on the list would come in handy.

Thanks.

the list might be different from person to person depending on their trust list.

edit:
yes. you have to include DefaultTrust in your trust list to see that.

How are the people in default trust chosen? Is there any criteria?

No criteria as far as I am aware of.

When someone in depth 1 adds someone to their trust list, they get to be on default trust.

Depth 1:
theymos (1)
HostFat (1)
dooglus (1)
Maged (1)
dserrano5 (1)
OgNasty (1)
Tomatocage (1)
SaltySpitoon (1)
DeaDTerra (1)
BadBear (1)
philipma1957 (1)
escrow.ms (1)
OldScammerTag (1)

that only means that they trade a lot. and most likely they're either on depth 3 or depth 4.
there's also some DT users with very few trade history, or even no trade history at all.

Yup but someone on Def. trust hasn't added them to their trust list, feedback and trust list are two different things.

Theymos, the person running the forum gets to choose people on depth one with his own criteria. As of now, his decisions were respected to a great extent. Depth two is the trust lists of accounts in depth one, that's where some choices start getting controversial. Luckily, we can create our own trust lists, not that this is going to change much.

How are the people in default trust chosen?[1] Is there any criteria?[2]

[1] users on depth 1 are chosen by theymos (via DefaultTrust account). depth 2 are chosen by depth 1. and so on.

[2] trust.

There is no specific criteria. You need to have quality post and be trusted by lot of members on this board in order to become part of the default trust.
