Just for future reference, you don't need to delete the default wallet... you can simply change the wallet name that is shown in the text box from "default_wallet" to another name.

It will then change from asking for a password to say that "the wallet file does not exist" and will let you run through the new wallet wizard:

Electrum will always attempt to open the file named default wallet in the data directory. Have you written down the 12 word seed?
Actually, it attempts to open the last wallet file that was open... (or default_wallet if it is the first time running).

Electrum will always attempt to open the file named default wallet in the data directory. Have you written down the 12 word seed?

If so, assuming you're using Windows, you can go to %appdata%/Electrum in your file explorer. Move the default_wallet file away from that folder into another location on your computer. Restart Electrum and the client will prompt you to either restore or create a wallet. Select  Standard Wallet> I already have a seed and the rest is pretty self-explanatory.

Anyways, are you sure you have never encrypted it? It sounds pretty weird if you hadn't done so. Someone else must have access to your computer, check your computer for malware and check if anyone has used your computer.

Hello everyone

As I changed my computer I had to reinstall Electrum, which I did last week. I had never had any problems before with my previous computer, and this time again the installation was good, I noticed carefully the generation feed on a paper. Then closed Electrum.

Today I wanted to put bitcoins on my wallet so I opened Electrum, but it then asked me the password of the default wallet. I did not have it (and did not configure it anytime).

So I uninstalled Electrum and reinstalled it, thinking it would not ask me this default wallet password again. But it did!

So now I cannot finish the installation and the installation wizzard is blocking me, asking me the password of the default wallet. I tried to ignore that and tipe nothing but it won't work. I have no other option than typing the default wallet password; if there is a way for creating a new wallet I don't know how to do it.

I tried to find an aswer here in a topic about that, and on the web, but did not find a solution

Please notice that I paid attention to where I downloaded Electrum, and that it is the 3.1.2 version.

Please notice that I am not very good in english, and really bad noob in computer... So if you answer me please be very "explicative".

Thank you for your answers
