This coin was my favorite to mine n' dump. SHA-3 was easy on the mining rig, and profits in the early days were excellent. It's already feeling like a distant memory...

Well, maybe yes, maybe no. I'm not passing judgement.
You could find BTC charts that look like that over some period of its trading history too,
especially if you wanted to look at Gox charts

Maxcoin is just another hyped altcoin, with no market fundamentals behind it and they all show the exact same curve in the value graphics over a longer time period.

Here are a few of them :

Quark:

Doge:

Kitteh:

Max:

Aurora:

Basically all of them are just pump and dump schemes nothing more nothing less.

It is a travesty to even call them currencies, it's all just a big joke.

No serious investor will dump money into a situation like that.

~BCX~

~BCX~ is single handedly saving serious investors from the perils of altcoins !

It seems that AUR and MAX are not the first threats ~BCX~ has made.

Maybe we should start a new thread just to document all your 'tests' ...

I'm looking forward to reading about you getting hauled off to borstal son.

rapidcoin, maxcoin, and smartcoin ruined my life imo   Cry

oww sry to hear ..  I guess Titi-, Troll- and Failcoin had been the better choose this days. We are in a crazzy altcoin world. Wink

That Maxcoin was a loss as investment was pretty obvious to any miner.
It was a gold mine for miners to mine and make profit the first days due to it's unrealistic high price which made it factors more profitable than any other coin to mine and sell.

Somehow I believe that there are investors that still haven't understood that the mining profit is one of the most driving factor of all those altcoins prices with POW.
Simple put..if one coins sticks out in price it's heavy mined and sold for BTC. The price will correct.

I'm sitting on about 1000 MAX and if it ever goes up again I am getting out of it. But, I'm still over 2 BTC profit on the coin thanks to how lucrative mining and selling it was for about an entire week.

Heisenberghex coin

It was launched today. Plenty of people jumped into it and it is not even listed on Coinmarketcap and is only on one exchange. Just thing about how popular "Breaking Bad" is and how many memes can be done with this coin!

Price up? All hail the king!
Price down? Heisenberg says relax.

terrible launch will be dead and forgotten soon. get ready for the next rip off of that series coming soon....crypto meth.... let's see if they can launch without a total screw up.

Its actually real easy to figure out on this one.  The specs are bad for supply and demand. There is no demand, and mining pumps pretty much an unlimited supply, so there you have it but it still has a chance Long term.

I sat there and dealt with trying to connect and mine for hours at launch, by the time I was able to even mine solo the network hash was already psychotic for anybody with a CPU. I posted there and then in the forum for that coin that I won't mine or buy a single one of these coins I don't care if it turns into a 500000x profit. I'm glad I stuck to my guns and shunned that pos scamcoin. Lots of people lost money on it, its never going to recover.

The reason you had such a hard time is that the devs launched using GPU Cuda miners. Block chain and diff adjust analysis clearly shows a large gpu farm came online immediately. The whole linux only thing was designed to give the devs a clear advantage for the first 24 hours, which is all they needed to milk the sweet spot at the peak of value.

Honestly I do not think Max Keiser understood a single technical aspect of it and only attached his name to it. I don't think he was aware of the scam that the devs pulled off until about 8 days ago when he seems to have disavowed the coin entirely. Not a single mention of Maxcoin by Keiser in days as it falls off the cliff.

~BCX~

+1 for thew launch comments and the RS exchange add on  was a just a bonus -

+1 for the possible conspiracy with a large farm at beginning - I mentioned it in the thread before launch and was misunderstood.

disagree that Max has abandoned it - = = or Net Net its no worse than any other long distribution launch, its not memory hard - and its a single hash -

interesting to the see the market eventually come back to shorter distributions times and multi hash.

multi Hash because SCRYPT is dead -

shorter disto times, because market is starting to realized that value and price is determined by a network effect, in relation to the decentralization.

the equation is not just a simple matter of "early adopters" Quark is one of in fact the only fully distributed currency with wide exposure. price has stabilized, after a certain amount of time (maybe a long time) so will Max.

But the fact is,  speeding the process up does not significantly effect the currency either way its just that the developers do not understand multidimensional economics and are just;  "doing what bitcoin done" and spreading the release over years.

take for example AUR - look on page 4 - i told the Dev a 50% pre mine is flawed he should have conducted an at least 70% pre-mine IF he can assure that it is delivered, and the 30% is only for the lack of hardware, if hardware can be delivered (would need Gov involvement) 100% premine and delivered - silently the the price would have floored on volume then found equilibrium if the market can build a network effect.

in effect we have 50% of AUR distributed instantly in 30~ days etc. it doesn't get much faster than that, of course this is supposedly delivered to citizens and the currency lives or dies on that parameter effectively.

but miners are certainly not going to get it.

I think soon Maxcoin will go to da moon. It will go down more, now. Thats beceause it has to find a bottom. Soon it will go up.

Maxcoin is faster, better and uses less electricity. I am in.

What the hell is wrong with people lately claiming this? The new trend in shitcoins propaganda?

Bought it a week ago for hft, still is buzzing in trades so I dont know what you are talking about

If you bought it a week ago, you have less than half the value you paid for it.

Try looking at any of the exchange charts to see a steady non stop decrease over the past 14 days.

~BCX~

I still have the same value in BTC because of the market volatility opportunities caused by panic, sad it will not rise again if you're right Cry

Maxcoin is a victim of its own success. As soon as it became more profitable for people to mine than Litecoin, all the Litecoin miners switched to Maxcoin. Profit-miners don't speculate. They mine for the BTC. So there's huge downward pressure on the price because of this, and the speculators are just frankly outnumbered by a huge margin.

It was pretty much inevitable, really. The high initial speculative prices set Maxcoin up to treated like this.

IMO, someone is not truly a "Litecoin miner" if they are mining purely for profit and will switch to any chain that is more profitable. I think it's wrong to blame this on Litecoin or Litecoin miners.

Also, I think it is wrong to blame this on the for profit miners as well. It is not their fault that the Maxcoin launch was so incredibly botched that Maxcoin was doomed to fail from its inception. Is it their fault that no one sees any value in Maxcoin? No, that is Max Keiser's fault and his development team's fault. Many coins have survived, grown, and been improved upon despite the fact for profit miners dump the coins at the first chance they get.

Apologies. I didn't mean to insinuate this is the fault of Litecoin miners. Just profit miners in general. A lot of them mine LTC because it's a relatively stable altcoin with predictable profits. That, and it's pretty well known.

I think you're right, though. The hype has died down for Maxcoin. The dumpers have dumped, the bagholders are left holding the bags, and people have moved on. Who knows, maybe things will change, but it seems like a flash in the pan to me.

Did he say it in his show? Or did the coin finally die?

Well, I'm no market analyst, but..

This is what happens when your coin is mined by pure profit-miners with GPU farms and daily bot trading.

That chart sure looks awful...
