I’m going to self-quote a whole post here that is pretty long (as an exception), but who’s content I found interesting at the time I search the info enclosed within:

<…>
The option seems to have been available in SMF 1.1.x, but is disabled on this forum. The help guide seems to be a default proforma content, shared in other implementations such as this one, this one, and this other one. I guess it could be edited here to adapt the content to the available options.

Since the forum was moved to it’s current domain in august 2011, and the procedure to delete an account was depicted in September 2011 as requiring the Admin (se quote below), I doubt it has ever actually been an option for the user to self-delete his account, at least under the current domain.

To delete your account:
- Delete all of your posts you want deleted
- PM me with the name you want your remaining posts credited under

Sidenote - Fun historical quote concerning what used to happen to spammer accounts:

Removal of old accounts is not unprecedented. Many users have requested account deletion on this forum, and others may have been deleted for non-publicized reasons. I did some data crunching, and got 3565 missing account numbers, either because they were deleted or were never created

There was one purge of inactive accounts a long time ago, and it used to be policy to delete the accounts of spammers. But accounts are almost never deleted nowadays.

Account self-deletion is feasable in SMF (see the three "this one" hyperlinks in the quoted text above), it’s probably just not there for Bitcointalk as a deliberate omission.

Please delete my account, the button doesn't want to work.

I understand you have a genuine request, and it's entirely valid to want to delete your account. However, please keep in mind that the administrative process of deleting an account is not as straightforward as it seems. As far as I know, bitcointalk doesn't have a delete option, so account deletion, if possible, would likely need to be done manually by an administrator (I believe only theymos can do this). Even then, it will not entirely erase your account but replace it with an anonymous one.

By the way, your account dates back to the era when Bitcoin was priced at just $600, and it's a piece of history in its own right, it is something to hold one to. Nevertheless, if you have genuine concerns about privacy or security, I recommend sending a PM to theymos with your details. If your request meets the necessary requirements, there's a chance your account could be deleted.

You can not delete your account, you can only edit your post but if you still want to delete your post here on the forum but it will still appear in ninjastic.space, but why did you want to delete your account?

Ninjastic is an independent scrapper just like Loycev.club, what they basically do is they take information and data here from Bitcointalk, moderators don't operate them and they officially have nothing to do with the forum post but God forbid, if the forum is lost or hacked today, they can still serve as a backup to get things back quickly because they contain almost every line of post that are posted here on this forum since their launch. But who knows if the global moderator also has its independent scrapper?

I think OP made a mistake with his username and is looking for a way to change it and that's why he is looking for a way to delete it and create another one, there is nothing logical for a user who has fewer than 5 posts to delete his account unless if the user fears about his email which he can just change or just forget about the account.
Okay, I get the whole point now, but it is not an easy task for the OP to change his/her username, because I believe if it was so easy to change usernames, a lot of people would have done so. So I strongly believe that a lot of forum members have thought about changing their username, but it isn't an easy task for them to do so, so they have dropped that idea of changing it. However, if the OP is looking for a way to change his/her username, then I would suggest he/she should just sluff-off the account now that the account is still new and has no good use.

If the reason for deleting your account is something related to your privacy then send a message to @Theymos, and if your reason is sufficient, your account will be deleted (all posts will be deleted and the topics you created will turn anonymous)

Note that there are known and unknown services that scrape data from the forum, so consider that anything you post after clicking on post button is recorded and cannot be deleted.
I don't know why OP wants to delete the account when it's not that valuable and only has 4 posts, simply logging out and never coming back is enough.

After waking up from a long sleep since 2014 and then making a thread wanting to delete the account is funny.

I see there is no privacy important in this account, the account name I am sure is not his real name, he did not post any wallet, so what is privacy?
Is this thread just being OP's silliness?

Where have you seen the button for account delete?

Why do you want to delete your account?

If you can answer these questions then i will know why and how desperate you're in seing what you want coming to pass, but for the sake of further arguments on this, you cannot delete you account, you may logged out, clear your browser history or delete your browser, but not your bitcointalk account, just go inactive and that's solved the problem, but if you think you might later be tempted to log in again, then get yourself banned, but i see no reason why all these should be done by you, when the entire community here comes with diverse opportunities and a good place to stay.

Admins can change an original username to a random username. I saw some cases like this with privacy issues like you mentioned.
But i guess this will be not count in this case for an Account that has only 4 Posts with this Thread here included.
There are also not really anything important on the other posts that have some Information that it should be deleted or the Account name changed.
Even the Account is an old one i would say that the OP should just change the password its hard to remember or the Admins lock that Account.
As others have already written a PM to theymos for delete the Account is the best way.

Forum moderators, admins can nuke accounts of spammers, scammers. That is a little bit similar to delete an account but at least user account still exists.

Admins can change an original username to a random username. I saw some cases like this with privacy issues like you mentioned.

Changing an account to Anonymous is very long in the past and I did not see any case recent years at least since 2017.
As you can see here, I only change the username to "Anonymous" on request.

Usernames list from Loyce.club with does not exist for deleted accounts.

There's no reason to delete an account, there's a loophole that can be used for criminal to take advantage over it. Similar like Bitcoin address can't be deleted, there's no point to delete it.

Note that there are known and unknown services that scrape data from the forum, so consider that anything you post after clicking on post button is recorded and cannot be deleted.
He can contact the scrapers to delete the post because I remember they did remove someone who post their private key.

There is no button to delete your account the only one who has that privilege is the administrator, just abandon your account, there are so many accounts that were abandoned here, maybe you have a change of mind and eventually come back, based on your number of posts, you have nothing to left here only 4 posts with no merits.
Maybe one-day Theymos will do a clean-up on this forum and he will delete abandoned newbies first.

Further back, in November 2018, I made the figure to be roughly the same (16K), so there really are no account deletions taking place nowadays.
Thank you for explaining it very well --I did not know about this.
Therefore --there is no way of an account deletion nowadays, I thought that 16k accounts deleted profile was made until now by staff.

@OP, there is no point in deleting your account but instead --pay attention to those instructions/suggestions above.
You may lock your thread when you come back, though you cannot delete your thread but still you can edit it and leave it blank before leaving the forum.

<…>
Back in the day, there may have been more leniency to delete an account here and there, and some likely DB error/locks may have caused UserId to be skipped:

<…> In the forum's first couple of years, accounts would sometimes be deleted. Also, in rare cases an ID can be skipped (eg. if a database transaction gets rolled back).

In April 2022, the number of deleted profiles (deleted or skipped IDs really) was 16.117, meaning the number of cases has not increased in a year and a half.

Further back, in November 2018, I made the figure to be roughly the same (16K), so there really are no account deletions taking place nowadays.

The only chance that OP deleted his account on this forum is to ask the moderators or staff.
I saw right now on [ https://bpip.org ] that there are 16,117 deleted profiles which perhaps which be granted when staff agreed.

He can actually delete a thread created by himself but like you said the Scrapers we have can simply make one have access to almost everything posted on the account even after they got deleted.
He actually can not delete his threads.

He only can delete his threads if he is a forum moderator but he is not.

He only can edit opening posts of his threads, delete all words, change the title and lock those threads or move them to Archival. It is not thread deletion by the way.

Wait --there is one more important before OP will vanish his account.
-Delete all your posts that can be found on your post history.
It's not necessary to do.

If you have secret and don't want anyone to know, don't publish it on Internet.

A Bitcointalk member only can delete posts but can not delete a thread, opening post of a thread. Even posts if deleted by OP will still be stored by some scrapers.
OP of a topic can not delete his topic or thread, but not in all cases, if the OP made it self-moderated, he will be able to delete the topics. But OP threads are not self-moderated and he can not delete it. But some people can edit the topic to dot or del in a way it would be like the topic is deleted but not the whole thread.

You can’t delete your account yourself except an admin decides to do it for you.

But since you have just a few posts on your account, you can just delete those posts or edit them to “delete” after that change your email address to a random email that does not exist and do the same thing to your password by just inputting random password without saving it, that way you won’t be able to access your account again and that should serve the same function as “deleting the account” since you don’t want to access the forum/account again.

Seems not a bad idea, but the deleting of posts is probably unnecessary as scrapers will simply make it easier to access them. If OP creates a throwaway email and password which he can’t remember, he should also create a thread on the reputation board with the idea that he wouldn’t be using the account again and possible many members will tag it, just in case someone else gets access to it they won’t be able to use it for any transaction on the forum again because of the tag should the Mods fail to delete it. This will be similar to how people that do not wish to take loan on the Forum have done. This prevents a scammer using it in future.

As far as I know, there is no option to delete an already created account. If you no longer wish to have an account, simply log out and don't come back. I think that's enough and the forum won't lose if you suddenly disappear. So no need to worry about anything. Finished

You can't as others have pointed out.

Maybe the best you can do is change your email address, then after that you'll receive a link to lock the account.

Or you send message to the admin that you wanted your account to be deleted. But not sure if they will respond to that request.
