I honestly didn't even know there were scrypt asics (silly me, I guess).  Now I'm gonna check out amazon and see if I can get an old usb one for super cheap (just for the museum).  Smiley
Oh yeah, it started with dual stick miners that mined both scrypt and sha and then went to grid seeds and now are at super expensive titans that are like $3000.

You'd be amazed what people pay for those USB sticks, or, better phrased, what people ask for them.

eBay is so hit or miss with mining equipment, I picked up my thunder x3 with a 1200w gold psu for 140 shipped but the same miner is on there for 380 or 100$ broken.

Well the A2 Terminator miners are probably 3x more efficient than the Zeus X3 unit.  And the KNC Titans are 2x as efficient as the A2 units.

There is definitely money to be made with ASIC mining if you mine the right coins, trade them at the right time and have a fairly low electric rate (less than 14 cents / kWh I suppose).

Luckily I have 0.06$/kwh but I am shocked to get anything efficient has such a high priced entry point, the lowest I am seeing for an A2 is around 600$.

My problem with the whole deal is that if "trading at the right time" is relevant, I'd rather be buying coins with fiat or BTC and then trade. The mining is just "a way" of aquiring the coins.

There is no use to mine unless there is a discount between power and worth. The trading you can't add to the profitability calculation Smiley
I personally just love mining, I don't know exactly why to be honest. I have a fairly large gpu rig, a few ants and a thunder I just like to cover all the main algorithms I can.

I may write code in exchange for bitcoins.

Production on scrypt asics has been quiet if there has been any new produced at all, is anyone actually profiting on Asic miners currently or are they just speculating on the negative electric cost?

So far there is nothing worthwhile launched or planned. (just skipping the guys from the UK who are a year past schedule, can't remember their name, Alpha?)

At this point I'm mainly curious where people get their electricity so cheap that the hashrates don't just drop down along with the rate of the coin. Like with Ltc for example!
